Below is a copy from a forum I did entitled $9. The information is based entirely on my reading the CBO report on minimum wage. It would appear there is a compromise amount available.

$10.10 per hour increase potentially would create a loss of 500,000 jobs. A portion of this loss would be employers not hiring new employees. Another little overlooked fact is employers would not replace employees lost due to attrition of wh**ever type.

The CBO report states an increase of the minimum wage to $9.00 would, potentially, create a loss of 100,000; however, would still provide a substantial benefit to "low wage" earners.

Math is not my strong suit; however, utilizing a calculator, it would appear with $9.00 per hour 400,000 jobs would be retained and low wage earners would still benefit.

With a minimum wage of $10.10/hr., minimum wage workers will have more $$$ to spend, so business will improve, thus nobody will be inclined to fire workers, unless they don't want to grab more business.

Just like the last several times the MW has been increased. And just like all the hand-wringing from the Right.

I will trust the Congressional Budget Office research, thank you. Why potentially loose 500,000 jobs? REALLY :?: Why not compromise on $9.00, which would benefit lower earners; however, less adversely effect the number of jobs lost. My numbers are from the CBO report.

You denigrate the right on not compromising; however, you seem just as rigid and unwilling to consider other numbers. Seems like the pot and kettle message.

Oh yeah, that is teapartyconservatives are either rich, or don't work, so they have no need for a lousy $10/hr

Wages are private business agreements between employers and employees. Government has no constitutional authority to meddle in those private business agreements.

Those were exactly the thoughts of those "freedom loving" aristocratic s***e-owners: George Washington, Patrick Henry, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson. They would whole-heartedly agree with you.

AuntiE, who is twisting your arm to read my posts? I think you forget that forums are like revolving doors. People are always coming and going. I address my remarks to those who have not been here as long as you.

Also, much of our country is fixated on this nation's infancy and can't seem to get past their childhood fairy tales, whether religious or civic. I would definitely include you in that group.......your syrupy antebellum demeanor being a constant and repetitive reminder.

I don't h**e my country, especially since its has switched from aristocratic exclusionary impulses to one of embracing diversity. I'm not part of the un-patriotic President Obama bashing, Putin loving, gun-worshipping, i**********n advocating, far right.

The "syrupy antebellum demeanor" provides quite a few venues of interest and education that your jeans, tee shirts and tennis shoes would not see you through the door as a janitor.

I know. It's incredible the level of anger, these folks have, when you challenge their beliefs about re-capturing a 50s style "Leave it to Beaver" world that never was. They really think they are being c***ted out of a lilly white suburban utopia where all problems can be solved by Ward Cleaver in under 30 minutes, and no one's front yard has weeds.

They were really pissed to learn that the Cleaver house was just a set and was only in existence to sell Ovaltine and Purina dog chow.
