Good, let's take the government, the entire structure of the government back to the days of a "good" president named Eisenhower.
High tax rates on the wealthiest, cutbacks on military spending, secure borders, no corporate welfare or outsourcing, keeping American assets such as Panama canal, mid-eastern oil, a strong "buy American first" national policy, strong mainstream republicanism, no teapartyconservatism/obstructionism, strong unions and middle class.
Gee, sounds just like a Norman Rockwell painting

There was no need for teaparty conservatism/obstructionism, because government wasn't out of control. The only thing I would disagree with from the above is the high tax rates, that JFK lowered because it was the right thing to do. If the revenues to the Federal Government, resulting from the JFK tax cuts, were so high that Johnson had to create welfare, and medicare to spend it all, I would have favored more tax cuts to finding programs to increase spending with.
Private citizens are much better at spending money for their benefit than the Government is. To set up the Government to spend money on personal benefits to citizens is the most inefficient and corrupt way to provide for people's needs.
