In my opinion nothing of the sort is happening: It may be that you see religion being slowly returned to the individual and out of the public square. Matthew's Gospel clearly instructs us to Practice our belief system privately with no fanfare, no evangelizing and no public displays. Our Founders sought to follow those instructions as they enshrined Separation of Church an State into our country's earliest mission statement. The Way to a Good Life is how we live it, not how we talk about it. Any devout person can see the absurdity of worrying about removal of religion from our country. If God is all around us, all through us, Firing or dimissing is out of the question. Can't be done.

Sure, they did, just like today. If you separate God out of mans life you can get control of that life and Satan can just walk right in and take complete control. Since 1972 the day of legalize a******n, which is a sin. We have almost legalized gay marriage nationally, which is sin. Our Churches are letting all kind of doctrines and beliefs in, which is sin. We are going on the path of Israel, just before they were removed from their country. Other countries have no respect for us and we are so i***tic, we just keep on giving them money to buy their guns to k**l one another and probably one day turn those weapons on us.

Oh, gnashing of teeth! Loud moaning! Golly gosh darn dang it, too, by golly.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Not only is Christianity not the only religion practiced in America, but less people are practicing religion at all. Before you start whining and moaning about the terrible awfulness of it all, take a breath and consider WHY this is happening.

You have the Catholic Church revealed to be a bunch of child molesters and even Catholics have turned away from their church by the millions over this.

You have the Creationists making total asses of themselves by insisting that evolution isn't a fact, that everything came into being in a few days, and that no creature has changed over time in spite of not only the fossil record but the recent record.

You have that jackass minister who I hear died recently, finally, the one who behaved horribly at the funerals of soldiers.

You have people like Obama's tutor, Rev. White and his "God damn America", and the list just keeps going on. You have the Far Right acting like they own Christianity with their Right To Life crap and the atheists raising hell over creche displays at Christmas, and all the MSM and retail outlets saying "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas.

You think it's just one thing? It's a pile of things. I have God in my life though I don't subscribe to any organized religion, and it's the hypocrisy I found in all of them that turned me away.

You want to know why Americans are turning away from religion? It's because of all the discord among you, all the pushy proselytizing, the politicizing, the child molesting, the screaming.

I read what a lot of you so-called Christians have to say here and most of you leap to attack, viciously attack, anyone who disagrees with you. YOU are why Americans are turning away from Christianity as much as anything else.
