Well Known Media Lie Falls Apart

The liberal mainstream media has been propagating a lie for about 30 years now that goes like this: When the founders gave us our bill of rights, they gave us the right to bear arms with the flintlock rifle in mind and were not aware that machine guns and assault rifles would be created in the future. There's only one problem with that. Machine guns and assault rifles were already in existence during that time.

Here is an assault riflle from 1780: https://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2015/07/26/assault-weapon-1780/
It carried twenty two bullets.

Machine guns were even older. The first machine gun was created in the late thirteen hundreds. It was called an organ gun and used multiple barrels to fire a volley of shots rapidly. It shot 12 bullets at once. Although it was rare, it was greatly feared on the battlefield and given the nickname "the infernal machine". This was followed by the revolving arquebus in 1597. By the late 1700's, there were already several different types of machine gun in use. Congress was well aware of them. This was followed by the Kalthoff repeater(which had 6 to 30 rounds) and the Cookson repeater (which had 14 rounds and two barrels). This was followed by the puckle gun in 1718 which could shoot up to 9 rounds per minute. By the late 1700s, there were several different types of machine guns out, and congress knew about them.

And how many of these guns did the founders run across? And just how many of those guns could the average citizen afford to buy? Just who do you think the founders wrote the constitution for--a few millionaires who could afford exotic guns or the average citizen in the late 1700's...

Actually, they wrote it primarily for the land owning class and property holders. So, I guess it was mostly the 'millionaires' they had in mind... at least for organizing and marshalling their forces should the need arise. However, they expected each man to supply his own arms.

1st. People who preach gun control know nothing about guns.
Last. I guess the first amendment only applies to parchment and quill, and plain speech?

My position on the 2nd Amendment is: It is the duty of the patriot to protect his nation from its Government, according to Thomas Paine. The Government has agreed to not use military grade weapons against civilians, so we don't need fully automatic and military weapons to oppose them. Nice and polite.

You make a very interesting arguement ghost.

Since the founding fathers would have been equally incapable of forseeing radio, television and the internet,

why does the first amendment apply to those forms of media?

The shotguns do not have detachable magazines they require manual reloading after 3 to 5 shots. Although a 12 gauge shotgun is a formidable weapon it in no way replicates the cyclic rate of an AR-15 or AK-47 with high capacity detachable magazines.
