With no political affiliation, agenda, or party intent, millions upon millions of Americans wake early for their jobs to feed and spend some time with their kids. Love does that. It has no partisan affiliation. I feel this is the majority of Americans, day-to-day decent people loving their families and providing, as best they can, for their future and well-being. What political pundits Right and Left claim to divide our nation only confuses them. Their response is just be there for family and community. Is that unsophisticated and worthy of judgment? Left and Right say it is. What do you think?

I agree! People have this insane notion that a sick and criminal fed gov’t and self serving press are the proper platform for civil discourse and interaction. It’s the dark side of a democracy, which used to be called the tyranny of the majority. Only very weak personalities are threatened by differing opinions.

The problem as I see it is the fact that those that are in office are multi wealthy and I don't have a problem with anyone being wealthy but it seems to me they are determined to amass more wealth and have a lust for power not to mention some pretty stupid line of thinking .

One only has to look at all the corruption in the political arena we are currently facing in this nation with both parties it makes no difference .

I think that we need more posters who exude your common sense and common decency, MtnMamma. Though not woefully short of them, OPP has too many others who exhibit partisan/ideological animosity...warranted or not, and/or a penchant for ad hominem attacks rather than a reasoned approach to earnest and intelligent discourse. By exhibiting the latter, your posts generally have a calming effect.

The political agenda of both parties seem to be eroding what is basic to America: family. The liberty we have in this country has led to the wholeness of the family unit. In that wholeness, local community is supported and enhanced. We go about raising our children with the love of freedom. Maybe not always directly but with that understanding. The language of Liberty that we enjoy changes consciousness. We think freedom as basic to life. Washington attacks this simplicity of thought and being, creating agendas, directions, and problems that robs us of ordinary life. Washington is an intruder to the American Way of life. It is all schemes and subterfuge to them. For us, it is straightforward care for our loved ones.

Don't forget setting us up so that both parents must work to survive, leaving children to increasingly be unduly influenced by attitudes outside the family unit
More and more young people are downsizing their expectations or working alternating shifts so that their children always have a parent at home. Personally I just want my children and grandchildren, and their children, to have the opportunity to have a good life and close family and friend relationships.

You are gonna make me curdle, lol. Thank you. Lost as to what to say next. I thought most of what I said, any American would say. No earthquakes or wows. "Just the facts, ma'am?" It is depressing, I guess, that what I share is somehow inspiring. But love the undue attention, however. My husband read your post and nearly cried. He stood very still for a moment and then touched my head. "You are doing a true service," and then he left. What I like about you is your extremely civil and even approach to "other" voices. You were not condemning. The "warranted or not" was very gracious. People like you are what is most needed now. Bridge the gap.
