That's close to what we're paying down here in the hill country of Central Texas. As mentioned in a previous post, what worries me most about a trip up there in our motor home would be the road and weather conditions. The bus would be our preferred travel vehicle, but those concerns would play a large part in driving such a large vehicle so far into country with which we're not familiar. I suspect we'd be better off with standard camping gear carried in our 4-wheel drive king-cab truck, or perhaps staying in motels or lodges.

I have wanted to visit Glacier National Park since my Dad's visit inspired my also wanting to go up there. That was nearly thirty years ago, so I need to make the decision for going or not. We've visited the great lake area of Minnesota's North Shore. We also have a desire to visit Maine, Nova Scotia & Newfoundland. So many northern places we want to travel into....

Definitely the four-wheel king cab. No question. Also, Montana weather is highly variable. Always have a jacket or sweater nearby. Sitting outside enjoying breakfast at Sykes Market in July in shorts and T-shirts at 8AM only to do lunch in front of a fireplace at Tupelo Grille four hours later. Personally, on any road trips we make, I prefer staying at a B & B.

I'm so glad it wasn't your state flower, lol. As pretty as they are, the name is sorely lacking.

Sweet, thank you, and I understand.

Mscan'tspellS,
I personally want to thank you for venturing onto this Roller Coaster. Don't know how you did it but you've single handedly brought out the best in all of these dastardly rascals while interjecting some much needed good old natural humor. You Ma'am are definitely a breathe of Fresh Air. I hope you have a long stay here and along with KK, LJ, PLynn, and others, will help to corral some of our cantankerous bulls who can't decide whether they want to fight the enemy or(of course with humor) amongst themselves. Mike

Of course I am not complaining but someone else mentioned the big response to my introduction: any ideas? I have to admit I was a bit taken aback, happily, but genuinely surprised.

Everyone has been great so far unless I'm not catching some subtle mocking. It may be a flaw but I am really bad at noticing sarcasm. I take people at their word.

Great story about growing up. Love those personal touches when talking. I was an ordinary brunette, no curls or striking highlights. Straight brunette, lol. My nickname as a kid was "tiny treasure" (the state's nickname is the "Treasure State) later shortened to "TT." It stuck.

Daisies by far are my favorite flowers yet when the hillsides gets covered in wildflowers, they are all my favorites.
Of course I am not complaining but someone else me... (show quote)

I've always known and referred to Montana as 'The Big Sky Country.' This is the first I've read of it being 'The Treasure State.'

Just a nickname, but true for many reasons (and I am included, lol, according to my dad).

After reading one of your posts earlier on another thread, I have determined that you may well indeed be a treasure of sorts. You are gon'na prove to be a great addition to the forum beyond this fantastic introductory thread.

Wow. I am clueless to all that you said. I was reluctant to return. Never in a million years would I expect this response. But heartfelt thank you. Hope to meet "with KK, LJ, PLynn, and others." Not sure why yet but great. I am confused. How did I "single handedly brought out the best in all of these dastardly rascals while interjecting some much needed good old natural humor." I misspelled the name of my state, that's it! This is way too much.

This is truly overwhelming. You're way too kind. Can you tell me why my thread got this attention? I have no idea.

You got it close to right, MtnMamma. Arch's poppa was a 'pistol,' Archie is a son-of-a-gun. (sarcasm)

Totally a compliment. Giving you a taste of how the banter goes here but defiantly a welcome and thank you for enjoining so many without someone resorting to the normal BS we can slide into. Mike

I have read all the comments on a number of other threads and how they seem to deteriorate, and although it appears I am looking for compliments, I am just surprised and delightfully confused: everyone has not been just civil but engaging and fun. No diatribes. No rancor. No d******eness present. Very lovely and uplifting. I know I am not in control of what people choose to say but I have to admit to being warmly flustered by it. And a smidgen of p***e, I guess.

Well, you should take that smidgen of p***e and warm flustration and cuddle up on those cold Montana nights. Brrr, I grew up in up state ny where a 10 below day was ok for a flannel shirt if the wind was down and the sun out for awhile, At night we rolled boiling quart water bottles on the sheets and had a piss pot so as to not have to use the outhouse. But 30 below on the plains, brrr. It's 50* here today and I'm still in shorts and flip-flops, trying not to let summer slip away.

You're initial introduction was fantastic. Where are you now? Haven't heard form you. Mike
