This all started when I told DBQB about hearing two marines having sex in a foxhole next to mine back in 1968. Everybody was pissed that these two were not watching the wire at night, a potentially fatal error. But in fact one of the two was actually a fairly good marine. The other got wounded not long afterwards through is own stupidity.

Whether they were homosexuals or just lonely is unknown to me. It really didn't matter as long as you knew that everyone had everyone else's back no matter what. They got flak from the CO for that tryst but that's about as far as it went. Most guys, even those in their own squad, avoided them from then on out, but, as I said, one proved to be a good marine.

Back in 1968 there were guys showing up at the draft board wearing dresses. As far as I know, none of them got out of the draft by their claims of homosexuality. Most were no doubt f**es, but it isn't a stretch to think that some weren't lying. And they went down the line saying "count out five" with every fifth draftee going to the marines. So my guess is that some actually went into the marines, also.

His homophobia is telling. What is he protesting? If he served during the Vietnam era, as he claims, his protests are perplexing. Especially from someone who was in the Navy, for God's sake.

His stories about his military "career" and work on a flight deck of an aircraft carrier (a dangerous job, indeed) after being rejected from the marines due to poor eyesight begs questioning as do his claims of laving UPS after a 'druggie" attacked his 'woman" with a knife, leading the soft treatment for the druggie. Who does he think he's kidding?

He has a right to free speech. So do you and I. And I'll keep on practicing that freedom as long as he continues to insult today's soldiers, sailors and marines. And maybe do him a favor and help him out of the closet.
