Why can't America have high-speed trains?

More and more cars and trucks, more and more expanding highways still with traffic jams, we are far behind other countries when it comes to rail systems. Between layover times, security lines, government bail outs, expense, and airport hassles, why do we not move towards more energy efficient train systems. Is it due to the control of the oil industries? Some thoughts...

let us get the slow moving ones to stay on the tracks better than we do now......then we can add speed to the efficiency

I like high speed jacked up pick up trucks.

I feel much safer behind the wheel of my truck.

Maybe you like the idea of traveling at high speeds when you don't even know who the driver is.

Add to that, you can't even see what's ahead of you.

You have absolutely no control.

I prefer to have control of the vehicle I'm traveling in at high speeds.

But if you like high speed trains, I hope that soon you will have one.

Just don't expect everyone to participate.

Most modern day railroads are the state of the art. However since we have a gazillion cars and reduced rail service due lake of passengers and unionized workers it is most difficult for the railroads to break even much less make a profit. If it wasn't for the freight hauling, the railroads would go bankrupt if not already.

Morgan, We should have two hundred mile per hour trains in this country. We have the technology, and the capital to invest in modern trains. I know that I drive from Myrtle Beach to Northern Virginia once every four to five weeks, and many of my friends drive even more often and further. I suppose the reason we don't have them is because most people are satisfied with flying. This attitude has many problems. For one, we are at the mercy of airplane routs and schedules. Living in Myrtle Beach, that is a real problem. Second, the there isn't enough competition in the airline industry. High speed trains should bring the price of travel down across the board.

Americans have some slight control issues that need to be worked on before we take on high speed trains. Dont forget your appointment with the psych Dr. wolf

How about some new tracks with new destinations...how far behind do we want to get?

Last time I took a train to Texas as a matter of fact from NC, took me thirteen hours in all. I could have driven there and been less hassled with less expense.

WolfC it sounds like you have some control issues, let go and relax more... When I fly I can't see in front of me and I don't know the pilot but I have complete faith he will get me to my destination. But flying is very fuel inefficient, not to mention fairly unpleasant, trains are a good choice we should be using more, not only for people but commercially also.

Psych doctors come to ME for comfort and advice.

And us rednecks don't do high speed trains.

But if you pilgrims want rocket trains, by all means I think you should have them.

I'll stick to my truck.

Hey Salt, I fully agree, we are catering once again to the oil racketeers, those who still control America. They make a ton with flying. Then when they don't the tax payers bail them out, how many times has it been done, still airline companies and competition keep disappearing.

I prefer control if you don't mind.

And I don't give a hoot about fuel efficiency.

I have no problem with you having your high speed train.

Do me the courtesy of respecting my preference to travel in my own form of t***sportation.

America has high speed trains, but you will never see them. The controllers have them underground in their extensive tunnel systems. They're powered by electric magnetism . They can go from Ca. to NY in less than 45 minutes. You would be amazed at what is really going on around you. They want you ignorant because the big deception is coming soon. Many are going to perish because of their ignorance; you don't have to be one of them. It has already started with the Texas hurricane, it's going to get much worse nationally very soon. Stop believing the lies and start connecting the dots. Your life depends on it. There are people behind the curtain, and then there are the real controllers who control everything. You no doubt do not believe that; I have no agenda believe wh**ever you like.

They come to you for comfort advice? What's your shingle...truck stop counseling here...That's a great idea! I completely respect your choice, I'm only wishing we had more choices for everyone. Driving a big truck is fun.

I understand you don't give a hoot about fuel efficiency, but it comes down to being more energy independent, and considering the air we all breathe.

I see, and where are people buying these tickets to these underground rail systems, are they in some local states?
