Carolyn, I can only imagine the stuff that you are going through. As of right now, the Republicans are planning a big cut in medicade and/or medicare. Let your governor, Congressmen and women, and the White House know how you feel.

Every government whether it be church or state should have a system for it's "truly needy" and the only way to achieve that...is to follow biblical guidelines to fair treatment of the poor and in that context will your education lead to revealing who is truly needy and who is lazy...

Welcome to the "family".

I see you have health issues and for that I'm truly sorry. I also see you live in NW Oregon, and for that I am also truly sorry.

I see you are placing blame on the right for much, and in part you are correct because neither side has all the answers and as both sides struggle for power through the years....normal people get caught in the middle much like the rope in a tug of war being pulled back and forth.

But there are some things I want you to be aware of.

For the past 8 years the left has held the white house. During part of that time they also had both houses of congress, yet what did they do for you? They doubled our national debt, rammed through a healthcare law that benefited insurance companies more than people, and refused to give your social security check a cost of living raise as prices for goods rose around you. Think about that.

Now, please take a look at your own state. The western portion of Oregon is heavily controlled by the democrats as is your state legislature and your governor.

Now with that said, look into a recent bill that was proposed and backed in your state by your democratic politicians. It was to legalize euthanasia (death) for the elderly, disabled, and mentally incompetent.

I'm not kidding. Look it up. Your democrats see you as a drain of THEIR money and a liability rather than an asset, and want you dead.

Before you pass off what I'm telling you here as baloney, look it up. I am neither democrat nor republican. What I see clearly is both sides are for themselves but the democrats have a history of saying they are for the little guy, then doing things that in fact hurt the little guy. Right now they are doing everything in their power to prevent Trump from accomplishing anything and in the process they are placing you, me, and our national security at risk.

Look up that bill.

I dare say if only people like you, who have worked hard,, contributed were on these programs , there would be little problem. The dems throw our money all over to garner v**es and portray republicans a as heartless bigots. A strong secure economy would help us all, but they have created a societal expectation of support, as opposed to jobs.

Carolyn, look up Oregon SB 494.

It condemns those mentioned to death via starvation and dehydration. And it was narrowly defeated by the republicans.

The left is relentless. They will come again and again to pass this thing. At first they will make it appear "reasonable", then after passage they will begin amending it until it directly threatens you.

You only wish. Democrats do not care if Medicare/medicade go broke because one they can't add and two they will be fine.

Obama was in office for 8 years but the modern conservative began its rise to power in politics in the early 1970's and became manifest with the e******n of Ronald Reagan and The so called centrist democrat Bill Clinton accelerated Republican economic policies. Obama made little progress due to Republican obstruction. The Democratic one regarded as the party of the working people has become just another right wing to the same bird there are no progressive party who gives a s**t about the little people because that don't have any money to give them

She is one of those folks who remember when the Democratic party once stood up for the little people a la the New Deal but that all began to change by 1972 when the Democratic began trying to be like Republican to get their share of the Tsumai of cash that began flowing from the business community in the 70's but the people just haven't realized it until recently. I didn't realize it for 20-25 years

My Family all live in Oregon and are all right wingers, Sister brother in law, nieces , nephew, and their children all wing nuts and I cant figure why It is baffling. They are all working class but are wedded to the party of big business the Republican party of course the Democratic party has lost its way and been trying to be like Republicans for the last 30-35 years but they are lousy at it Republicans have a lot more experience with Republicanism and are much better at it

While I empathize with your health issues, I too have suffered a life changing , limiting health crisis. I think you are looking at this from the wrong perspective. Life offers no guarantees, except that their are no guarantees, and there is no free lunch. Fair or unfair, young or old, sick or well, we are responsible for our own upkeep, failing that, we have charity. There is no magic box, holding funds for the needy, somebody pays for these services, people that dont even know you, work, and watch as a substancial chunk is taken for these programs.
Now I don't deny your need, or the fact that your circumstances have made self support impossible, but you are still not "entitled" to someone elses money. The government does not have the right to take from other citizens, that is theft, and they have committed this so extensively that those on the recieving end now believe it is a right. That just because we continue to breathe, we deserve support. But that is simply not so.

Hedge fund Manager John Paulson made five billion dollars in 2009 betting that the wall street engineered housing bubble was going to burst, by working with Goldman Sachs to create mortgage backed collateralized backed debt obligations packed with liar loans that were destined to fail, selling them to investors around the world as being safe as government Treasuries then buying Credit Default Swaps from AIG that would pay off if and when the securities failed and they failed. AIG didn't have the money to pay the winners so the Government bailed them out to the tune of $185 billion. Paulson made five billion, Goldman Sachs made 12 billion. It was all taxed at cap gains of 15 % in an Egalitarian society these crooks would pay at least 50 % of five billion and a lot of Americans who need health insurance but need food stamps could have it. In the 1930's 40's 50's 60's and 70's we taxed all income over say three million at 91 % and created the largest middle class in history and paid down the national debt from 120% of GDP in 1945 to 32% of GDP in 1979 then Reagan was elected and its been trickle down Republican economics ever since
