It seems hardly a political thread yet it goes, at least to me, to the heart of true political thinking. Boiling shrimp has no standard temp or time for the various sizes: one has to be in attendance to discern a few shrimp floating to the top to know they are done. This is not a formula or fixed standard: it is awakened presence.

Of course, Rumi, now that my stomach has quit growling at me, there are so many interpretations of "done" is there not. "Done" with a topic, "done" with being of one political persuasion because you realize that you are truly "done" with feeling that way and the way it appears it makes others feel. Shrimp, a good visual, t***sparent UNTIL it is truly done.

Did he now??!!?? Well, from God's mouth to Woody's ears.  However, I rather suspect those who are Orthodox would have a stern word or two for Mr. Allen. Sort of like "some" interpretations "sometimes" on OPP of "some" things.

Do you really think that the majority of America's Jews really care about what the orthodox think? Woody, has taken more than a few pot shots at the orthodox in his films.

If America's Jews really cared about orthodox rules, you think the intermarriage rate would be at 60%? America's Jews no longer sit "shiva (mourning)" when their children marry out. They have learned that the boogy-man won't get them if they date a gentile or eat kung-pao shrimp in lobster sauce. They certainly know that the boogy-man won't get them for not going to synagogue. The number of Jews who attend "shul" weekly is about 20%. Of course that number does not apply to the orthodox.

You're making me hungry!! I like balsamic a lot, for that matter ALL of what you threw together. Tell me how it turns out.

I over cooked it. 12 minutes on each side was too long. Had to heat up the grill slow. I was afraid it would crack in this cold.

Well, I have Jewish friends who are orthodox and some who are not. Even the ones who are not attend "shul" every week and keep a kosher kitchen. When we used to eat out, they never seemed to "break" the rules. Out of respect, I kept "kosher" when we ate out -- as best I could. As I said, out of respect. Hey, as a kid growing up Southern Baptist, I was "required" because I went to the Catholic teen dances to attend mass on special Holy days. Perhaps, that's why I consider my ecumenical.

I am Jewish and have never dined out with orthodox Jews. I have actually never even been to orthodox services. No desire to. I think it bizarre that they have a screen, known as a "mechitza" to separate women from men. Orthodox men subscribe to primitive biblical rules. They think women have cooties. They will not touch their wives for seven days beyond the last day of their period.

The non-orthodox? They would rather live back on earth in the 21st century...

You did notice, did you not that "lpnmajor" attempted to bring us back on point  Rumi must have been hungry when he put together this topic. Since we are all such sensitive souls, we must have picked up on the "subliminal" here   Yes, my stomach is growling in agreement. Well, that sounds like a good defense to me!! Now, if someone would just suggest a good recipe for venison -- lots in my freezer, mostly of the roast persuasion!! I am growing weary of roasts. 8-)

If you have a crockpot and/or a smoker, I can help with the gamish recipes. BTW, shrimp can be used to flavor unrelated food products, or people for that matter.

They are probably more peaceful men though. I think we're all living in the 21st century, if not, I'm in BIG trouble.

More peaceful? I don't think so. Most of them are delusional and can't do basic math. They think they can have ten children generation after generation and the planet will blithely supply their needs. They have no comprehension of such concepts as planetary carrying capacity. Jewish religious crazies have more in common with Christian, and Muslim religious crazies than they have with secular Jews. They would rather be stuck on an island with a Chrisitian zealot than with a Jew, who they view as an "apikoris". Thats basically their judgmental term for Jews, who would prefer to not go to synagogue and ......eat shrimp!

So, if you have no cares, are you not peaceful? Oh, the h**e. yeah, now I get it. You can't be full of peace if you're full of h**e and judgment.

Late I am. Had planned on a trip to the Amish today -- but too icy -- didn't want to end up in a ditch somewhere. Actually, couldn't get out my driveway. This is one of those times I wish I could call the Amish!!

Crockpots, I have -- fling some recipes in my direction. Flavoring folks with shrimp, ya don't say   One summer, a Park Service Ranger taught me to throw a shrimp net, guessing you can catch some folks with one of those too.
