Less than a week before the Nation observed Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, The New Yorker published a story about President Barack Obama. Editor David Remnick asked the obvious question about Obama’s abysmal approval ratings. Sitting in the shadow of King’s dream of a color-blind society that is united in harmony, Obama played the race card: “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President.”

Of course Obama played the race card. Excepting those occasions when the target is someone like Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, world-renowned surgeon Ben Carson or some other black person who demonstrated the temerity to allow their accomplishments to speak for themselves, the Democrats default to spurious accusations of r****m faster than Texas State Senator Wendy “A******n Barbie” Davis can shriek “war on women!”

I almost feel bad for our poor President. Facing public approval that is folding faster than Vice President Joe Biden playing Jeopardy!, Obama assumes his detractors must be motivated by what he calls racial animus. It has never occurred to him that his detractors might be motivated by myriad scandals that have come to define his tenure. In Obama’s mind, the Obamacare debacle, the B******i murders, unfettered National Security Agency spying on private citizens, politically motivated Internal Revenue Service harassment of innocent taxpayers, Fast and Furious gunrunning to narcoterrorists, and/or the arming of al-Qaida-affiliated Syrians are insufficient to explain the increasing disaffection Obama endures from the e*****rate.

What a shame that is — not just because it’s dishonest and crass, but because Obama’s tendency to blame r****m for everything from political opposition to parking fines reveals a deeper (and actual) animus. This guy simply doesn’t like us.

And Obama is hardly alone. Late last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo fantasized about an Empire State free of people who believe in the sanctity of human life. “(C)onservatives who are right-to-life… have no place in the state of New York.” While New York, which has been hemorrhaging population to “red” States over the past few decades, has become increasingly inhospitable to non-liberals, it’s no California. In declaring pro-life citizens to be personae non gratae, Cuomo has essentially given the bum’s rush to the members of his e*****rate who recognize that there’s more to New York than Manhattan, the Hamptons and the Governor’s mansion. While Cuomo didn’t identify r****m as a factor, there’s no mistaking his clear distaste for the millions of people who think life begins before you’re eligible for union membership.

This liberal hatred for the overwhelming majority of their fellow countrymen and women begs a question. In the case of Obama: What kind of man ascends to the highest office in the land despite absolutely despising half the population? For that matter, what kind of man would want to spend the loftiest moments in his career — indeed, his life — in a job that requires he interact with 150 million people (more like 190 million of late) whom he h**es more than Martin Bashir (and pretty much every liberal) h**es Sarah Palin?

I expect I can add that question to the miles-long list of questions to which Obama will never provide a satisfactory answer. I expect I can add that question to the miles-long list of questions about which Obama doesn’t care.

My observation is that MLK would find BO disappointing at best. Simply because he lacks the characteristics of a true leader. Ruling by fiat is exactly why we have three branches of government , and not one. The man did not receive this office because of the content of his character. He can play the race card all he wants. However, I deal with quantitative, qualitative , empirical evidence. Not the latest polls. The numbers simply don't add up. The unemployment rate is not even close to 6.6 % It's closer to 13% when you factor in how many Americans have dropped out of the work force.

The dollar is worth about 65 cents ..And now he wants to raise the minimum wadge ? While the price to produce and manufacture anything in America has sky rocketed. Not because of demand side economics. Because of union labor and regulations.

I recognize there are a lot of angry ,bitter individuals on this site. Most posses no free will. They would rather attack , than have a rational debate. I don't need a video or feed from a news organization to reach a conclusion. Roll up your collective sleeves and do the home work necessary to find out the t***h. Sift through all the information available. and through cognitive reasoning figure it out for yourself. Charles is an infinitely more intelligent man than most obnoxious individuals on this site. Why? .. Because he has secured his facts the old fashioned way through due diligence. I am not a wordsmith, so many will load up their barrels and take aim at my grammar etc.

Unfortunately, they are missing the point, moreover, not even close to the target. The bottom line is America is no longer respected internationally. No longer the Big dog on the porch. You can thank your Omnipotent ruler for that..Period.....

Both Bush and LBJ were horrible Presidents that cost the country thousands of American lives and billions of dollars, but at least LBJ was responsible for having the Civil Rights Bill passed. If if weren't for Viet Nam, he would have gone down in history as a great President. I can think of no saving grace for Bush. He will go down in U.S. history as one of the worst Presidents in history, and he knows it!!

The house says over 150 proposed bills, not all healthcare related mind you, have been sent to the Senate and Harry Reid has not allowed one of them on the floor for discussion. Do we know if this is true? And if it is do we know how many of these had to do with healthcare reform?

Not defending one side or the other. Just saying, how do we know what has been suggested or not? Can any of us say with absolute certainty that some good ideas might be laying in the in basket?

How do we stop from making future mistakes if we don't study the past? If Bush would have studied Viet Nam a bit more, he may not have gone into Iraq!!

The world doesn't want big dogs on their porch...especially if they are uninvited. Its good that we have a president who understands this. Too bad LBJ and both Bushes could not get this through their little microcephalic brains.

Your grammar is just fine--to the point and correct. This administration has done so much to divide us that race relations have been set back 50 years. The thought that there are still people defending the policies that are damning us to 3rd world standing is unbelievable. I read somewhere that the unemployment rate is about 37%--which includes retired and disability retirements, and excluding those, the rate is actually about 16%. This includes underemployed, who want full time jobs, but there aren't any to be had. Now, they're saying .."Isn't that wonderful ? You don't have to be tied to a job ! You can stay home with your family !" How stupid do they think we are? How many Red-Blooded Americans have that as a goal ? Most people want to climb the ladder of success--do better every year--make sure their families don't have to worry about 'just making enough to survive'.

What--you think he just didn't have enough to do one day, and decided--"HMMMM__I think I'll invade Iraq!" ?? Do you remember 9/11 ? Do you remember The Congress and the UN agreeing to the invasion ? Pres. Bush was a fighter pilot during The cold war--he knows the hazards of war. ...And he loves our Military--he wouldn't send our young people to war without damn good reason !

Try this. George W Bush was a sadist since childhood. When there used to be heavy rains, in Texas, little Georgie liked to go out with his friends and plant lit firec*****rs into live frogs. No surprise that little Georgie had no problems with k*****g a million Iraqis and engaging in "enhanced interrogation" otherwise known as torture (and forbidden by the Geneva conventions of which the U.S. was a signatory).

The blood lust of animal torture morphed into a blood lust involving humans. He should have been deported and tried at the International Court of Justice at the Hague, in the Netherlands for war crimes. Bush was a genuine sociopath. He laughed heartily when signing the execution warrant for a Texas woman on death row. Bush was famous for smirking. What is a smirk? It is trying to suppress a smile at others misfortunes. W was truly one of very worst presidents. His presence in the White House was a blot on this nation.

Only a feekin coward like you would not go after those who were responsible for k*****g 3500 children, women and men. Because if someone k**led my family I would k**l them. America is a family; unfortunately, your part of it.

U can't think beyond your nose. I am convinced that by taking the fight to them we prevented them from k*****g a lot more of our women and children. Have you forgotten why some of us fight while the likes of you run off to Canada? Have you , already forgotten Boston. You are pathetic!

I would have launched the most intensive investigation in this nations history. My first act, upon hearing of the tragedy, would not have been to finish reading, "My Pet Goat". My second act would not have been to make sure all the Saudis got quick and safe passage out of the U.S. (17 of the 19 highjackers were Saudi Arabians). I sure as hell would not have slaughtered a million Iraqis in a failed attempt to seize their nation and control their oil under the pretense of liberating them from oppression and finding bogus weapons of mass destruction.
