I agree with you but what's one to do when there is no one to play with because all of the other kids are sitting on a couch banging away on a gadget? Ever notice how there'll be five or six of them sitting together using their phones? Mike

If they would get rid of the electronic toys they would get rid of a lot of the medical problems as well. I know Johnny has one or Sue has one well guess what you aren't Johnny or Sue so get over it and go play. If the boy wants to become a professional sports player he better get his but outdoors and the same for the girl it is a good way to maintain the female figure and that is by being active.

Our society today is failing itself. Kids are learning much differently today and I predict a demise of sorts for this generation or when their awakening finally occurs that what they're doing does not produce a sustainable life-style and they will change.

I predict in the near future that you will see more of those camps for kids that are like basic training which will last for a couple of months each. I don't know the proper name of those camps are but I can just see them now no cell phones and no video games. Go on forced marches and camp out in the woods build their own fire cook their own food . Maybe instead of using a tent they could learn to construct a tee pee or even a rudimentary log cabin. Maybe learn how to hunt and fish and clean their game or catch and how to cook it. How to know the good wild berries from the bad. Wow it might have to be more than a couple of months and it would probably catch on if enough parents signed up for it.

We have a few of those here now. They are mostly for delinquent inner city kids. My daughter and son in-law and myself are teaching their kids those basics. My wife and I were Girl Scout leaders for years when my daughter was young and constantly took the kids and (mostly single Moms) parents camping, again teaching both the basics. I think the moms had more fun learning how to build a fire with no matches. How to bake a cake in a cardboard box, etc. than the kids did. At first they (parents) were scared to death of being out of doors but after a couple of trips got over that and had a good time and gained respect for themselves. Very rewarding. Mike
