A plainclothes city cop was shot in the face in Queens Saturday when the ex-con cousin of a former New York Giant opened fire into his unmarked patrol car, authorities said.

Officer Brian Moore and his partner were driving through Queens Village when they spotted the suspect “adjusting an object in his waistband” near the corner of 212th St. and 104th Road about 6:15 p.m, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.

The officers pulled up behind the suspicious man — identified as Demetrius Blackwell, the younger cousin of former Giants cornerback Kory Blackwell — and tried to question him.

Without warning, Blackwell whipped out a gun and squeezed off at least two rounds into Moore’s car, Bratton said.

“He immediately opened fire on them before they had time to get out of the vehicle,” Bratton said at a solemn Saturday night press conference.

Put more succinctly, “They were gonna stop him and he just opened up on them,” added a police source.

In a related story, Hours before a cop was shot in Queens, three people were arrested Saturday in Brooklyn after one of the men pointed a gun at cops, police said.

Two people came into the 83rd Precinct stationhouse in Bushwick and alerted cops that three people in their 30s were waving around a gun threatening pedestrians, officials said.

A team of officers, including a sergeant and two officers in plainclothes, rushed to Wilson Ave. near Palmetto St.

As the cops approached, a 29-year-old man ducked behind a parked SUV before popping back up with a gun pointed at the officers, police said.

One cop squeezed off one round at the gunman, officials said.

No one was hit, but the gunman quickly dropped his weapon, officials said.

All three people were taken into custody. Their names were not immediately disclosed.

It will make so many, like Moldyold, feel happy to wake up to this news. One of several on OPP that think open season on Police officers is a good idea.

I have to get my news in this form from MRC and places like that since I just don't waste my time watching the left leaning media trying to shift blame for things like this one. The mayor wouldn't allow here police force to wear any protective gear other than those shields they got to carry and I wondered about how much those pre-formed pieces of concrete hurt the shins when they made contact.

Oh well you can see what the media was using all along to make the police look like the bad guys and the youthful rioters look like the good guys. I especially like the one who blames the hiring of military veterans.

Back before welfare was reformed, many more qualified for a check. After the 90's reform, feds only give states a "block grant" instead of using the number of applicants per state, like they used to. Now all that's done, besides save money, is encourage multiple fathers and marriage avoidance.

In the past, a married family could apply and get a check. After reform, welfare was cut and states decided they would focus on the most needy: Single moms.

We see how that worked out. It created a market for single moms.

A married couple out of work and below the poverty line can only get food stamps and children's healthcare (CHP).

The same family, if the mom applied as single with no father in the house, gets the welfare check.

Not only does she get a check when the husband isn't living there, she gets a check for each child.

That has given the power to mom. She can have many partners who are dependent on her.

And the men know moms have the power. If they even think about marrying, they look around and see a huge risk. If they later divorce, the father has to pay child support and even if unemployed, has to pay the mom. If he can't pay the ex, he goes to jail.

If the divorced, working poor father had a job, he will be fired for going to jail for lack of child support payment.

And they wonder why they are rioting? That's why you see black males rioting. There are no women rioting.

And if they try to provide for their children selling a single cigarette on the street, the police cuff them for illegal black market selling.

Give married families a lot more welfare than single mom families and help the father get training and a job and you won't see any riots no matter what the police do.

Roasted Portobello Mushroom Salad with Honey Dijon Dressing
Ingredients:
2 cups salad greens
1 cup chickpeas
1 avocado (stoned, scooped and diced)
1/4 cup red onion (sliced)
2 small roasted portabello mushrooms (see below, sliced)
honey dijon dressing (see below)
Directions:
1. Assemble salad.

Roasted Portobello Mushrooms
Ingredients:
2 small portobello mushrooms
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 clove garlic (chopped)

Directions:
1. Marinate the mushrooms in the vinegar, soy sauce and garlic for 20 minutes.
2. Place the mushrooms and the marinade in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
3. Bake in a preheated 400F oven for 30 minutes.
4. Flip the mushrooms and bake uncovered for 10 minutes.

Honey Dijon Dressing
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon grainy mustard
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 clove garlic (grated)
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:1. Mix everything in a bowl. I prefer shallots to onions and sometimes cut up tomatoes to serve with it....

Media denied access to attend 'Stand with the Prophet' conference

Hundreds of protesters show up in Garland, Texas, for a secret Muslim conference Saturday, Jan. 18, 2015.

GARLAND, Texas – Hundreds of protesters were out in force Saturday at a Muslim gathering blacked out to the media called “Stand with the Prophet” whose keynote speaker, an imam from Brooklyn, has been linked as an unindicted co-conspirator with the deadly 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The imam, Siraj Wahhaj, once remarked, “It is my duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Quran.”

President Obama formally invited Wahhaj to give a “juma,” or invocation, at the Democratic National Convention in 2012, but his invitation was withdrawn after public criticism of the decision became widespread.

Hundreds or more protesters attended the rally and members of the media were denied open access to event attendees, including WND and the Blaze.

Among the protesters was commentator and activist Pamela Geller, author of “The Islamization of America,” who said she was there to expose “supremacist” control of the event, attacking what she believes was a concerted effort to keep not just press from the event but ticketed non-Muslims as well.

“A number of people who were going were refunded their money late last night and told they were sold out,” she said. “The people that were going had English-sounding names. So, did they purge people they didn’t think were Muslims? Isn’t that supremacist?”

Part of the barricade blocking press from interviewing attendees at Garland, Texas, event

Attendees were brought in through a barricade in cars, and only two attendees were escorted out of the Culwell Center (where the rally was being held) to talk with available press. These two persons were accompanied by an event cameraman, who followed them through crowds of protesters. One of them compared the peaceful protesters outside the event to ISIS.

“The event today is to honor our prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and also to speak out today about the fact that Muslims are not violent people,” said spokeswoman Page Spence. “We are peaceful people. We want nothing more than to be part of this culture and community. We are level-headed peaceable people who are not trying to convert every single person to our religion.”

Spence closed her remarks by comparing protestors to ISIS: “The same people who are protesting are misrepresenting the Quran the way ISIS does.”

Police instructed WND and other press representatives that they were not able to interview event attendees except behind the barricade, which actually encircled the parking area, so as to prevent any real interaction with attendees. Press requests to interview attendees with police escorts were denied.

Randy Dunning, a former Garland City Council member, told WND: “People were brought in cars, but they were cordoned off so that the media could not actually get at or talk to the attendees of the conference. In city government, we have to be totally accessible to members of the media, the public is allowed into our meetings, and everything is done in a very transparent fashion.”

When asked about the speaker, Siraj Wihhaj, and his reputation as advocating the subjection of American freedoms and government to Islamic religious codes, Dunning remarked, “Our freedom is not a suicide pact. We can’t create a situation where we have one last opportunity to use our freedom and then use that to invoke some tyranny. … But unfortunately, there are movements in the world, and I believe radical Islam is one of them, that believe in one man, one vote, one time.”

On the idea that Islam doesn’t have a “violence problem” but rather a “messaging problem,” Dunning said he was “mystified by that idea.” Dunning explained that he would want to know “why are the kidnappings and the killings happening in the first place and then we can open up and start having dialogue.”

Protestors included Jeff Higgins, a Vietnam veteran who lost both legs in service to his country. Higgins said he was concerned “Islam was gaining a foothold in Garland.”

“This is my backyard,” he explained. “We live under the American law, not Shariah law and I know that ultimately, that’s their goal, is to bring Shariah law to America. This is the first kind of, in-your-face attempt to do that. I know they’ll say this is about peace, but peace means submission to them.”

Vietnam veteran Tim Lee said he is worried about his children and the future of America.

“America was built upon God and the word of God, not Allah, not Muhammad.” He said. “The Muslim religion is a religion of death. They kill people, innocent people, little children, chop heads off, and we are going to bring this to Garland, Texas?”

I was hoping that this place would be a great place for non-partisan, reasonable, fair political talk and debate with real news related postings but all I see is pretty extreme conservative speak with the typical talking points and basically blaming the president for everything, even though for any problems we might have there's a lot of people as a whole that need a finger to be pointed at. Look at your elected representative in Congress and the House, they are to blame just as much if not more. It sounds like a lot of FOX News type nonsense. Did you know that they do more to misinform the public than any one news station? They're a known right wing propoganda machine. I mean, just look at the recent totally false "No-Go-Zone" reporting they did. They just made it up! Now we have the UK laughing at us. People, you really need to think for yourselves. Really. This kind of talk and non-sense does nothing and makes no progress what-so-ever. I have no party affiliation, so don't even think about calling me a "liberal". I just want you guys to really use your brain, do research, use google, and don't just get your information from one side of the fence when you do research. Try to get it from as neutral of a place as you can. Getting your info from a place that already skews the facts to one side of the spectrum will just make you feel already justified and won't allow you to grow and get real answers. Please, do it for yourself to become a better and more educated person, so we can all make better and more informed decisions in the future. Look who we vote in and look how terrible of a job they are doing. What's congress' approval rating? Barely 2 digits?
