I was hoping that this place would be a great place for non-partisan, reasonable, fair political talk and debate with real news related postings but all I see is pretty extreme conservative speak with the typical talking points and basically blaming the president for everything, even though for any problems we might have there's a lot of people as a whole that need a finger to be pointed at. Look at your elected representative in Congress and the House, they are to blame just as much if not more. It sounds like a lot of FOX News type nonsense. Did you know that they do more to misinform the public than any one news station? They're a known right wing propoganda machine. I mean, just look at the recent totally false "No-Go-Zone" reporting they did. They just made it up! Now we have the UK laughing at us. People, you really need to think for yourselves. Really. This kind of talk and non-sense does nothing and makes no progress what-so-ever. I have no party affiliation, so don't even think about calling me a "liberal". I just want you guys to really use your brain, do research, use google, and don't just get your information from one side of the fence when you do research. Try to get it from as neutral of a place as you can. Getting your info from a place that already skews the facts to one side of the spectrum will just make you feel already justified and won't allow you to grow and get real answers. Please, do it for yourself to become a better and more educated person, so we can all make better and more informed decisions in the future. Look who we vote in and look how terrible of a job they are doing. What's congress' approval rating? Barely 2 digits? I've voted for people all over the political spectrum, because I vote for the person and not the party. You need to get out of that thinking. Your party really doesn't represent you. You also need to know that elected officials do the deeds of their donors and not the people that voted for them. You'd get a better idea what a candidate is about by finding out who is donating to their campaign, rather than what they have coming out of their mouth. We really need to get money out of politics if we have any shot of taking back our democracy. I've read a few threads and been very disappointed in the kind of talk that I've found in it. Fear propagating, false reports, name calling, bickering, etc. I'm sorry, but it just sounds like your typical right wing talk retreading. I'm tired of it. It does nothing productive.

So, you really believe that our elected officials don't do the bidding of their lobbyists and donors and you really think they care about you? Just look at the political trends and facts. I am not wrong. Why do you feel this way? Also if you say I'm wrong, does that mean everything? So, does that also mean I'm wrong that you should think for yourself and use actual facts to make reasonable assessments?

Not to be critical; however, you seem to only find fault with Fox. Can you honestly say MSNBC does not skew their reports? R E A L L Y?

I agree we must hold our Congressional representatives accountable.

It would seem from your post, you may not follow your own advice of utilizing more then one news source.

My news sources vary all over the place. I'll get it from a couple, then people will counter a few things then I go to look things up to try and get proper perspective, so I'm all over the map. I don't watch MSNBC at all (nor any major news media). I don't even have cable. I get most of my info from the Internet. You have to take a lot of what is out there with a grain of salt and don't just hear it from one source and go "Oh, that's very true and that's the way it is." because what good does that do? If you get your info from one source that already reinforces your beliefs then how does that make your grow or even be reasonable?

As a new user, you have probably not seen the posts from those who consider the Huffington Post and "Mother Jones" and "Daily Kos" to be authoritative. Like you, I get news from a variety of sources. I subscribe to both "Mother Jones," and al Jazeera, in addition to conservative sources. Obama is simply a lightning rod. He couldn't accomplish his agenda, destructive though I believe it to be, without lots of help from a complicit Congress that idiot voters continue to re-elect. This November, I made the mistake of voting to re-elect my Congressman. I will rectify that in 2016. I voted against most of the other incumbents.
I digress. You are probably of a more Liberal persuasion, and sometimes the conversation here can get downright puerile, but the left has it's less than outstanding moments also.

O.K. I might be wrong but you sound like an Obama voter. You automatically think because many of us listen to FOX news it's the only place we get our info. You come off as though you think your smarter than the rest of us and then going to lecture us conservatives on government corruption. Frankly I'm sick of it. There are many on OPP who sincerely believe Obama hates this country. I am one of them. We see supporters of Obama as the enemy or at the least an enabler. I for one will never compromise on how I feel about this traitor.

No, I get you and I believe that this is probably one of the most reasonable responses I have gotten so far. Thank you for that. I rarely get any news info from Huffington, if ever, so I can't cite them. I know that they are a left wing outlet and I try to stay away. It's possible that I might lean liberal in my thinking, but if trying to be reasonable, objective, factual, being good to your fellow human being, is considered liberal then I guess I'm it. It shouldn't be considered liberal, it should be the norm. We'd be so much better off if we were a more reasonable species.

Frankly, I like to always look at both sides of an issue. I watch mostly Fox because they always have a repub and a dem on. Granted they lean toward Repubs. But when I turn to MSM, I rarely see both sides debated. Personally, both sides have too many wussy babies whining about this and that and getting very little done. Therefore, I'd like to see Carson as our leader but doubt seriously that he'll make it. The powers that be will probably have Romney and Clinton battling it out.

So I take it that as long as discussions favor the liberal views, that's okay?

LOL. Sorry, but you're wrong. I went 3rd party in 2012, which I highly recommend to most people! You have a better chance with them to actually get to work for you because they don't have any huge, major donors that will make them do their bidding. I told you I have no party affiliation! I'm not sure why you feel the way you do about Obama. I can only think it's because of what a lot of the more conservative outlets tell you to think, and sometimes with false information to help drive it to you. In my opinion, he's been a great disappointment because he could have done some good stuff and never did, instead he stuck with the same political status quo for the most part, something he said he wouldn't do in 2008. Also, if you think he's a traitor (and I'm not sure why you do), then you have to look back on a lot of other presidents and apply that as well, especially Bush. Him and Cheney are practically war criminals. I never said I'm smarter, I just want people to be more objective, reasonable, and less reactionary.

So now being reasonable, objective, mostly neutral, thinking for yourself, using real fact to help make an informed decision, etc, is the new liberal? What a messed up world I must live in.

God I hope not. I also like Carson. I Try too get news from a number of sourcs. I think the Republican leadership sucks. They talk a lot of crap to the base but basically want the status quo. Just like their doners.
