Oh... Answered my own question....

See my note in this thread to Archie on how the two cases are related, if not precisely comparable.

From what I've seen, and read about it, it's absolutely NOT ok.
And, why does race play such a big part of it?

We have tweakers that run around out here, thieving, and robbing, but we don't try to chase them down, and make "citizen arrests" when they are minding their own business.
There's one of those FKers I'd really like to shoot, but you just don't do that.

The BLACK guy was confronted, and tried to defend himself against it, and was killed by those idiots. That is my understanding right now. There is no excuse for the way those morons handled it.
They deserve any punishment they get, and it will be too light in my opinion.

The WHITE guy was targeted, set up, and coerced by the highest in power in our government in order to create a narrative that has decided this country worse than its been in my lifetime.

You can say it's all lies, or right wing spin, or whatever you want, but it's there.

Thanks for clarifying, Arch.
Our friendship, despite our differences (perhaps because of them?) is a thing of great value to me.

Our take on the Flynn case differs, but I plan on it not coming between us.

Hope you and yours are safe and healthy in these crazy times.

The black guy's story is disgusting to me at best. Turn those guys over to me for twenty four hours, and I'll explain where they were wrong to them. You can come by, and pick up what's left when I'm done.

The white guy's story is a whole different matter. It is a story of abuse of power at the highest levels.

Straights, and homos Paul.

No comparison.

Or would apples, and oranges work better?

Dogs, and cats?

Birds and horses??

Arch - I’m not entirely clear if you think the murder of an unarmed black man was an OK thing or not. I hope you will clear it up for me and (hopefully, depending on how it is clarified) all will be OK between us.

The meme is about privilege, and to whom it is given. Had the jogger been anything but black he surely would not have been shot. Had Flynn been black I cannot imagine the DOJ would have dropped the case. Of course the above is speculation, which I usually think is not useful. But everything in our society these days tells me it is true.

Why people post anything that comes across their screen without research is beyond me.
100% of the points below are either patently false, unproven or misleading.
See what I found about each claim immediately underneath it.

*YES, the Governor of Michigan use to work for George Soros
- I can find no evidence whatsoever that current Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, has ever
worked for philanthropist George Soros. If you have evidence please present it.

* YES, CALIF GOV GAVIN NEWSOME IS NANCY PELOSI'S NEPHEW.
- No he is not. Ron Pelosi (who is the brother of Nancy Pelosi's husband) was once married to Gavin
Newsom's Aunt Barbara (they divorced in 1977 when Gavin Newsom was 10 years old) and Barbara died in 2008.

* YES, ADAM SHIFF'S SISTER IS MARRIED TO GEORGE SOROS, SON.
- Schiff doesn’t even have a sister. The falsehood is born out of the fact that Soros’ son, Robert, was once
married to a woman who also had the last name Schiff.

* YES, JOHN KERRY'S DAUGHTER IS MARRIED TO A MULLAH'S SON in IRAN
- Kerry’s daughter, Vanessa, is married to Brian Nahed, a neurosurgeon. Nahed is of Iranian descent, but
he was born in the United States.

* YES, Hillary's daughter Chelsea IS married to George Soros' nephew.
- Chelsea Clinton is married to Marc Mezvinsky, son of Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and Edward
Mezvinsky. I can find no family connection to George Soros at all.

* YES, ABC News executive producer IAN CAMERON is married to SUSAN RICE, Obama's former National Security Adviser.
- Ian Cameron is married to Susan Rice, and he is a producer. He was in fact a senior producer for 1
episode of the ABC World News Report In 2006. He is not an executive producer for that news show
overall.

* YES, CBS President DAVID RHODES is the brother of BEN RHODES, Obama's Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications.
- David Rhodes is in fact the brother of Ben Rhodes, Obama's Deputy National Security Adviser for
Strategic Communications. He was never the president of the CBS network. He was, however, president
of CBS News from February 2011 until January 2019, when he was replaced by Susan Zirinsky.

* YES, ABC News correspondent CLAIRE SHIPMAN is married to JAY CARNEY, former Obama White House Press Secretary
- Clare Shipman is currently "Good Morning America" senior national correspondent. She was with ABC
News for 15 years. She is in fact married to Jay Carney former Obama White House Press Secretary

* YES, ABC News and Univision reporter MATTHEW JAFFE is married to KATIE HOGAN, Obama's former Deputy Press Secretary .
- You are correct on both counts. However the most recent story attributed to Jaffe per the ABC website
was September of 2013, about an Amish girl with Leukemia. As far as I can tell, Katie Hogan was the
Deputy Press Secretary for the Obama for America campaign from March 2011 until January 2013. She
was never Deputy Press Secretary at the White House, as might be implied by this post.

* YES, ABC President BEN SHERWOOD is the brother of Elizabeth Sherwood, Obama's former Special Adviser.
- Ben Sherwood was in fact President of Disney-ABC Television Group. Sherwood departed in March 2019
when Fox acquired the company. His sister, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, was the U.S. Deputy
Secretary of Energy from October 2014 to January 20, 2017 under Obama. Previously, she was White
House Coordinator for Defense Policy, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Arms Control and,
before that, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for European Affairs since January
2009. So at one point she was in fact a Special Assistant to Obama.

* YES, CNN President VIRGINIA MOSELEY is married to TOM NIDES, former Hillary Clinton's Deputy Secretary
- Virginia Moseley has never been President of CNN. She has been and is senior vice president of
newsgathering for the network's U.S. operation. Tom Nides (currently at Morgan Stanley) was Deputy
Secretary of State, serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Department from January 3, 2011 to March
2013. Note there are two Deputy Secretaries of State. So he did in fact serve under Hillary Clinton
when she was Secretary of State.

I did go back and read both the articles you shared.
One might possibly extrapolate from this statement in the Vox article that quarantine only delays the spread of coronavirus:

“Even if you don’t reduce total cases, slowing down the rate of an epidemic can be critical,”

But nether article actually makes that claim or substantiates it with a model.
Nor is there any implication at all that everyone will be exposed no matter what.
I fear you may be reading into these articles a scientific idea that they clearly are not trying to convey.

As noted in this article (from Harvard) - people will die if the medical facilities are 'overwhelmed'. To date, this has been problematic in NYC mostly - the rest of the country it not only hasn't happened, hospitals are suffering from 'lack of patients'. There is concern among some doctors patients are dying because they won't come to the hospital. I recently heard a radio advertisement from the Medical Director of HCA saying exactly that.

"The main uncertainty in the coronavirus outbreak in the United States now is how big it will get, and how fast. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Nancy Messonnier told reporters on March 9, “many people in the US will at some point, either this year or next, get exposed to this virus.”

According to infectious disease epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch at Harvard, it’s “plausible” that 20 to 60 percent of adults will be infected with Covid-19 disease. So far, 80 percent of cases globally have been mild, but if the case fatality rate is around 1 percent (which several experts say it may be), a scenario is possible of tens or hundreds of thousands of deaths in the US alone.

Yet the speed at which the outbreak plays out matters hugely for its consequences. What epidemiologists fear most is the health care system becoming overwhelmed by a sudden explosion of illness that requires more people to be hospitalized than it can handle. In that scenario, more people will die because there won’t be enough hospital beds or ventilators to keep them alive."

A brilliant opinion that concerns the rule of law here in the United States.

Tomorrow marks the 26th anniversary of the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as the first black president of South Africa, reminding us that we are capable of radical change for the good.

I hope the Supreme Court makes this case a catalyst for a move away from the lawlessness of this administration and the Republican Party and towards a more just society.

"In a March 27 brief to the court, the president’s lawyers provided a new twist — that it is even more important not to distract the president given the Covid-19 crisis, as “the nation requires the president’s undivided attention.” But as Justice Antonin Scalia observed in the oral arguments in Clinton v. Jones, when a president is so busy “that he’ll never be seen playing golf for the rest of his administration,” then, and only then, should the court worry whether subpoenas would interfere with his ability to do his job."

I'm wondering if you are a physician, nurse or epidemiologist.
If so, let us know why you have different POV than the rest of the folks in the medical field.

I'm in favor of trusting the folks who have both advanced degrees and years of experience when it comes to medicine and public health.

My apologies if I misinterpreted your statement, but I think it was a fair question since you stated that it did not matter if Flynn was guilty or not. And no need to call names for crying out loud.
