While i completely agree that trading freedoms for perceived safety is a fool's game (witness the post-Sept 11 infringements whose main result has been a society of paranoia) I don't think our founders thoughts could have possibly taken into account the culture in which we find ourselves living today.

With an est. 2.5M people in 1776 gun ownership by some accounts hovered around 78% and the greatest portion of those in rural settings. That results in just under 2M NON-AUTOMATIC guns in a largely rural setting.

We now live in a country of 320M people, largely concentrated in dense urban areas and an ownership at just a smidgen under 89%. That works out to almost 285M guns, many of them automatic, in densely populated areas. The number is staggering and the potential for misuse rises exponentially with all the current factors.

While I do believe gun ownership is a fundamental right (despite my commitment to never owning a gun) I see no reason why regulations regarding safe storage, type of gun allowed a non-military citizen, as well as types/volume of ammunition should not be regulated with public safety in mind.

I cannot help but believe that, were they to appear on the scene today, our founding fathers would be horrified at how we have interpreted the Second Amendment.

Your attitude is exactly how gun registration comes about which is soon followed by criminalization of firearms and then confiscation. I don't think it will be pretty for whoever gets chosen to collect all the legal firearms in this nation. Most of the red states will physically fight such a move. In other words there will be an insurrection and it will be very bloody and it will end our Constitutional Republic along with its Constitution. That is the goal of the Marxist/democrat party and the other leftist who reside here.

You can't discount the possibility, nor can you prove me wrong. In fairness I can't prove me 100% right either. How I feel or think has nothing to do with paranoid, it has a lot to do with history particularly Marxist history and a gut feel. You know there are millions upon millions of Americans who feel the same way, why is that? Are they all paranoid, are they all crazy, what's your take on why so many feel uneasy for the welfare of our country?

I dedicate this to Anigav6969. An appropriate quote from history still speaks to freedom lovers today; a reminder that we have a responsibility to stand up if our freedom is threatened:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

You're just not getting it. 'We' are not afraid of anything and have no intention of running anywhere. 'We' are not predicting anything. 'We' are raising the Gadsden flag and if 'you' have anything close to a functioning brain, you will pay attention to what is being said and even closer attention to what is not being said.

Let me give you a brief anecdote. I have a friend who has been on the Left all of his life. He is a good man and a smart man but an angry man. I asked him why the anger. He never used to be all that excitable and the change in him is not at all pleasant.

He told me that I was misreading him. He insisted that he was not angry. He said he was frustrated. I looked at him in amazement. Why would he be frustrated when everything seems to be going his way, politically. All the things he has supported all his life are becoming reality. I thought he would have been thrilled.

"You think THIS is what I wanted," he said.

I responded that he is getting his universal health care, his closed eyed all-inclusive society, his open boarders and his one world government sure looks like its coming down the road. Those were things he has talked about as long as I've known him.

He said he still wants those things, that we have to learn to live together, accept our differences, all the usual Liberal utopian, tree hugging bullshit he has unendingly spouted for years. He said it has been a good time for liberals but they are blowing it. He didn't go into a lot of detail but he said that his party has been hijacked by "a modern day Sherman, marching to the sea". He said the idiots in charge, his words, not mine, are acting like they are winning a war, and they have no respect for the prisoners they're taking and are too stupid to see the prisoners are the ones with the guns.

I've been saying something similar for years. If 'you' have lost him, 'you' are lost... and frankly, so are 'we'. What you are hearing is the grumbling. What you are not hearing is the silence approaching.

There is an old military addage, 'you can only push people until they stop complaining'.
What I find facinating is even though they appear to be winning the culture war and think they will be making this nation a communist utopia, the smart ones are seeing an empty victory. Some have figured it out, though not many here on OPP, that there is going to be a very unpleasant and costly fight that many on both sides will not survive to become miserable proletariates to the system. Your friend is realizing that his ideological goals may be achieved, but he will not be happy with the results afterwards. The only happy winners will be the elite banksters, who will be the dictators over who and what is left.

I can look up any fundamental element you want to keep making the same point, but I would like to point out, that I am a degree'd Chemical and Mechanical Engineer. I was an Electrician's Mate on two different nuclear submarines, the first was the USS Plunger and then the USS Pintado. Navy subs use a thermal fuel matrix, that is: Uranium 235. As you might be aware, Westinghouse and GE provide and provided the reactors or reactor vessels for the Navy. The Navy uses a high pressure system that incorporates water as the moderator. A moderator stabilizes neutron bombardment of the fuel. Or keeps them captured, some escape, but don't travel very far. The reason the Navy uses Thermal fuel, is that as the moderator temperature increases more neutrons escape, thus it a self correcting. Uranium 235 is not as available in nature, and it separated from Uranium 238 via centrifuges. Hanford, Washington was an area of the country where much of the Nuclear waste is chemically and mechanically "sifted".

All of that being said, was in fact to support my belief that I do actually know what I'm talking about.

I have numerous friends, phD's, pilots, engineers and one guy that worked for the NRC that won't and don't support anyone's claims concerning chemicals being dumped on the US by planes.

But let's look at some other incidents that have occurred in the last few years. Fukishima, Numerous volcanoes erupting all over the world (fissionable uranium in the earth's crust contributes to volcanism, in addition to tectonic plate shifts). The volcanoes spew numerous gases into the atmosphere, Hydrogen Sulfide, CO2, Nitrogen Sulfide, all of which carry radioactive components into the atmosphere. In addition, the earth's crust is filled with yellow cake. Which provides uranium and it's subsequent decay products, such as strontium. One of the largest strip mining, yellow cake operations in the US is in Texas. They have been in drought, and drought produce particulates that can carry all kinds naturally occurring substances (see your aforementioned list).

All of that seems more likely, since no one has reported a high incidence of radioactive sickness from people that work for the airlines than anything else. The union and OSHA would be all over that one, don't you think?

What expertise do you bring, you're good with a keyboard and search criteria?

I would think one volcano would put more of all of those things you mentioned in the air in 24 hours than 25 years or more contrails could manage. I am not an engineer, but logic dictates contrails just may be a another conspiracy.

Is it all the beautiful women I party with? But they are coyote ugly when you become cognizant of your surroundings, aren't they? Or perhaps the fact that it makes me think outside the box actually making me smarter in some ways? That's what alcohol did for me, I was absolutely brilliant when intoxicated, but when I sobered up I found out I wasn't so smart after all. Most drugs have that effect as I understand it. Never used anything but alcohol, do I don't know about other drugs, just what I have been told. What do you think it is that makes us losers? Are you old enough to k now who Crosby, Pills and Hash are? They made some really good music in the 60's and 70's, but once the cleaned up, their music while acceptable, really wasn't top notch any longer. And the sad part is they really haven't been able make good music since. Do you envy the fact that us "bunch of losers" have fun while you sit there miserable? Envy? Envy drug users, you're kidding right? There is no reason to envy your life style, because it is destructive in the end. I would think you would agree with that, wouldn't you?

Again, quit playing coy. Many on both sides of the isle see an insurrection coming soon, probably after the economic collapse starting in the cities when they run out of food and water. It will then spread across the rest of the nation as mobs start pillaging for food. It's doubtful that the government will be able to prevent it. Now you have your answer, I don't have a crystal ball just guessing. But I am also praying it will never come to real violence in the streets.

You rotten bastards work every day to destroy our nation. Are you afraid to respond or are you are a gutless loser who cannot justify such bull shit. The Alleged 'Defenders Of Christianity' and Patriotic Lovers Of America' are in reality just the opposite! I may have missed it, but I did not find this line in the linked to article. Time and again we have watched these champions of “family values” exposed as hypocrites and frauds, with addictions to porn, even to child porn, to prostitutes, same and opposite sex, to mistresses on the side (sometimes in other countries), not to mention corruption – from Michele Bachmann to Rick Perry to Chris Christie to Jeb Bush – all presidential hopefuls who have more claim to a cell than to the Oval Office. The author Haraldsson, fails to mention the offenses four of them committed and were found guilty of. The varied and repeated displays of immorality by Republican candidates, however egregious, hardly compares to their view of women as nothing more than fertile chattel, who, amusingly, think they’re actual people. Not only do Republicans ignore biblical injunctions against their own behavior, but civil injunctions as well, even those set firmly in the United State Constitution. Somehow, everybody is guilty but them. If they are caught, they are not guilty, but persecuted. Victims of witch hunts, like those poor Duggars.

Nearly twenty centuries of destroying every alternative to itself under its belt, and even while they try to strip rights from women, gays, lesbians, and transgenders, to listen to these self-appointed representatives of the world’s largest religion, they are the ones being persecuted. Shameful! Speaking of moral authority, you are yourself guilty of plagiarism by not crediting the author of the underlined statements. http://www.politicususa.com/2015/06/06/reject-absolute-moral-corruption-republican-cult.h...

I find the article your link goes to, to be in many cases a fine example of not just moral corruption, but corruption of about anything one could think of. The author however lives in a left leaning glass house and there are many stone throwers looking to break another hypocrite's glass house. Most all people, no matter how moral or upstanding cannot live up to and do not live up to the Ten Commandments. You are using a moral authority that even you cannot live up to to condemn others. It's kind of like you are using the Cloward/Piven strategy against Republicans, but inadvertently you drag your own leftist Marxist/democrats down right along with the Republicans and yourself. It's hard to hold the high ground when you are just as immoral as the worst among us.

Some one else mentioned this as yellow journalism, I say it's yellow journalism at its finest! My hat's off to the previous poster who made mention of the term.
