NASA Expects Global Cooling
Posted on January 30, 2019

NASA expects global cooling with solar minimum, CO2 only tiny part of extremely long cycles, Low sunspot activity, Another “Little Ice Age” coming?

“We see a cooling trend,” “High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy. If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.”…Martin Mlynczak, NASA’s Langley Research Center.

“Two periods of unusually low sunspot activity are known to have occurred within the Little Ice Age period: the Spörer Minimum (1450–1540) and the Maunder Minimum (1645–1715). Both solar minimums coincided with the coldest years of the Little Ice Age.”…Encyclopedia Britannica

“We are being lied to on a scale unimaginable by George Orwell.”…Citizen Wells

From Mish Talk.

“Amidst Global Warming Hysteria, NASA Expects Global Cooling
Those promoting CO2 as the reason for global warming are hucksters and those taken in by hucksters.
Please consider NASA Sees Climate Cooling Trend Thanks to Low Sun Activity.

“We see a cooling trend,” said Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center. “High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy. If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.”

The new data is coming from NASA’s Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry or SABER instrument, which is onboard the space agency’s Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) satellite. SABER monitors infrared radiation from carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitric oxide (NO), two substances that play a vital role in the energy output of our thermosphere, the very top level of our atmosphere.

“The thermosphere always cools off during Solar Minimum. It’s one of the most important ways the solar cycle affects our planet,” said Mlynczak, who is the associate principal investigator for SABER.

The new NASA findings are in line with studies released by UC-San Diego and Northumbria University in Great Britain last year, both of which predict a Grand Solar Minimum in coming decades due to low sunspot activity. Both studies predicted sun activity similar to the Maunder Minimum of the mid-17th to early 18th centuries, which coincided to a time known as the Little Ice Age, during which temperatures were much lower than those of today.

If all of this seems as if NASA is contradicting itself, you’re right — sort of. After all, NASA also reported last week that Arctic sea ice was at its sixth lowest level since measuring began. Isn’t that a sure sign of global warming?

All any of this “proves” is that we have, at best, a cursory understanding of Earth’s incredibly complex climate system. So when mainstream media and carbon-credit salesman Al Gore breathlessly warn you that we must do something about climate change, it’s all right to step back, take a deep breath, and realize that we don’t have the knowledge, skill or resources to have much effect on the Earth’s climate.

Incredibly Complex Systems

See the problem? Alarmists take one variable, CO2 that is only a tiny part of extremely long cycles and make projections far into to the future based off it.

When I was in grade school, the alarmists were worried about global cooling. Amusingly, I recall discussing in science class the need to put soot on the arctic ice to melt it to stop the advance of glaciers.

The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report said we have only 12 years left to save the planet. It triggered the usual frantic and ridiculous reactions.

NBC News offered this gem: “A last-ditch global warming fix? A man-made ‘volcanic’ eruption” to cool the planet.” Its article proclaimed, “Scientists and some environmentalists believe nations might have to mimic volcanic gases as a last-ditch effort to protect Earth from extreme warming.”

Geo-engineering: Ignoring the Consequences

Watts Up With That discusses Geo-Engineering: Ignoring the Consequences.

From 1940 to almost 1980, the average global temperature went down. Political concerns and the alleged scientific consensus focused on global cooling. Alarmists said it could be the end of agriculture and civilization. Journalist Lowell Ponte wrote in his 1976 book, The Cooling.

The problem then was – and still is now – that people are educated in the false philosophy of uniformitarianism: the misguided belief that conditions always were and always will be as they are now, and any natural changes will occur over long periods of time.

Consequently, most people did not understand that the cooling was part of the natural cycle of climate variability, or that changes are often huge and sudden. Just 18,000 years ago we were at the peak of an Ice Age. Then, most of the ice melted and sea levels rose 150 meters (490 feet), because it was warmer for almost all of the last 10,000 years than it is today.

During the cooling “danger,” geo-engineering proposals included:

* building a dam across the Bering Straits to block cold Arctic water, to warm the North Pacific and the middle latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere;

* dumping black soot on the Arctic ice cap to promote melting;

* adding carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere to raise global temperatures.

“Taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere,” as advocated by the IPCC in its October 8 news conference, is also foolish. Historic records show that, at about 410 parts per million (ppm), the level of CO2 supposedly in the atmosphere now, we are near the lowest in the last 280 million years. As plants evolved over that time, the average level was 1200 ppm. That is why commercial greenhouses boost CO2 to that level to increase plant growth and yields by a factor of four.

The IPCC has been wrong in every prediction it’s made since 1990. It would be a grave error to use its latest forecasts as the excuse to engage in geo-engineering experiments with the only planet we have.

Cardinal Dolan will NEVER Excommunicate His Buddy Gov. Andrew Cuomo
By Judi McLeod —— January 29, 2019

Cardinal Dolan will NEVER Excommunicate His Buddy Gov. Andrew Cuomo
“Please never use the word weigh in when I come on, I’ve asked you to avoid that,” portly Cardinal Timothy Dolan, head of the archdiocese of New York, told Brian Kilmeade in yesterday’s interview on Fox & Friends.

For Christian pro-lifers still reeling in shock that Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law new rules that permit babies to be aborted up to the day of birth, Dolan is an elephant sitting on their hearts and souls.

“When asked whether New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) should be formally excommunicated from the Catholic Church because he signed into law new rules that permit babies to be aborted up to the day of birth—what one bishop has called “infanticide”—New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said such a step “would be counterproductive.” It would give “ammo to our enemies,” he added. (CNS News, Jan. 28, 2019.)

But the cardinal and the governor have been “giving ammo” to anti-Catholic/Christian enemies for years.

“Also, when asked whether Communion should be denied to Cuomo at Mass, Dolan said such questions make him “restless,” and he’d be “uncomfortable going into that” pastoral issue. (CNS News)
“Restless”? “Uncomfortable?”

How about cowardly and governor butt kissing?

Because when it comes to not taking a stand against abortion, that’s exactly what Cardinal Dolan is.

In the Jan. 28 interview Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy tried to cut to the chase, something the prevaricating cardinal never does:

“The fact (is) that the baby can be born alive and then they can terminate it. There have been calls from within the Catholic Church for Governor Cuomo to be excommunicated from the Catholic Church.”

“Cardinal Dolan, head of the Archdiocese of New York, replied, “You’re telling me. I get wheelbarrows of letters every day. I think that [excommunication] would be counterproductive myself.”

“Well he’s not following Catholic doctrine,” said Doocy.

“Dolan answered, “I don’t know – but there’s my point, Steve. We would be giving ammo to our enemies who say, ‘This is an internal Catholic disciplinary matter. This is really not civil rights, this is not biology. These Catholics don’t have freedom when it comes to this.’ I think we’d be giving our enemies ammo.”

“Doocy then said, “But the Catholic Church, cardinal, stands against abortion. And here is the most prominent Catholic in the state of New York, and he’s saying, ‘Eh, this is a good thing!’”

“The Canon Law [915] you quoted also says you have to use it for medicinal purpose and you think there’s going to be a good effect that can come out of this,” said Cardinal Dolan.

“He continued, “We have a governor that brags about it. We have a governor who uses his dissent from Church teaching as applause lines. We have a governor that takes quotes from Pope Francis out of context to draw an artificial cleavage between the bishops of New York and the Holy Father himself. He’s [Cuomo’s] not going to be moved by this. So what would be the use?”
The use would be to stop the hypocritical Cuomo from identifying as a Catholic.

“A little later in the interview, Doocy asked, “What about denying him Communion?” (CNS News)

“Cardinal Dolan did not answer directly but said, “Well, look, that’s – I don’t rarely get restless but I am – that’s kind of a pastoral issue that I think one has to talk to him about, and I think proper people have. And I’d be uncomfortable going into that, rather spiritual and pastoral. That’s a good point. Not denying him [Communion]. He may have already said, ‘I cannot approach [Communion].’”
The undeniable truth is that Cardinal Dolan has sided with Gov. Cuomo before now, particularly when Cuomo showed up for Christmas Eve Midnight Mass back in 2014 at his cathredal with communist New York Mayor Bill de Blasio in tow.

“The mayor tweeted a holiday message on Wednesday that referred to recent events that “have brought great pain to our city.” (NBC New York, Dec. 24, 2014)

“There have been frequent protests since a grand jury decided not to indict a police officer in the death of Eric Garner. Critics have argued de Blasio has not done enough to stand by police. Two officers were killed in an ambush on Saturday and de Blasio asked for protests to stop until their funerals are complete.

“The beauty and the strength of New York is that we don’t let moments like these divide us,” de Blasio said in the statement. “As we have done together as a city so many times before, we will take this moment as an opportunity not just to heal, but also to grow back stronger and more united than we’ve ever been.”

“Cardinal Timothy Dolan delivered the sermon, mentioning the unrest in the city in recent weeks.

“I suppose that’s why you’re here, Mayor de Blasio, as we face tensions and divisions in our beloved city, as you and other leaders try your best to invite us to dialogue, to listen instead of shouting and to work together instead of accusing,” Dolan said.

Only months before the mayor and governor ducked out of a church function hosted by the cardinal to party with Rev. Al Sharpton. (Daily Mail, Oct. 2, 2014)

“Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio left early from a Church dinner to join a star-studded birthday celebration for Al Sharpton.

“The New York Post reports that the governor and the mayor went to receive their lashes at the annual Al Smith dinner, held in support of Catholic charities, before ducking out to wish the Reverend a happy birthday at the Four Seasons two blocks north.

“Cuomo reportedly left the white-tie dinner halfway through and arrived still dressed in his tuxedo, while the mayor changed out of his fancy threads before heading over after the event.”
Cardinal Dolan fills in perfectly as Gov. Cuomo’s “Fr. Fatty Butterpants”, a description for others originated by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf, better known as Fr. Z.

Cardinal Dolan, the governor and mayor are part of the deepening rot in the city known as The Big Apple.

The cardinal, sitting elephant-like on Christian hearts and souls, will NEVER excommunicate his buddy Gov. Cuomo.

Though the current pope would never do it, it is Cardinal Dolan who should be excommunicated as well.

Proposed Army 1,000-Mile Supergun Could Be Ultimate Standoff Weapon

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 65th Field Artillery Brigade, fire their High Mobility Artillery Rocket System during a joint live-fire exercise with the Kuwait Land Forces, Jan. 8, 2019, near Camp Buehring, Kuwait. (U.S. Army/Sgt. Bill Boecker)

24 Jan 2019 Military.com | By Oriana Pawlyk

What is the real need behind the U.S. Army's proposed long-range cannon that can shoot out to 1,000 miles or more?

It could be used to conduct a strategic or tactical strike in support of the other military services, or to take out targets before service members get to the battlespace, according to the top civilian of the Army.

"On a tactical level, we need to be able to outrange our adversaries' guns with comparable caliber and organization," said Army Secretary Mark Esper.

Speaking during a media roundtable with reporters at the Pentagon, Esper compared the technological evolution to that of the spear and the sword.

"Why was the spear developed? Because the other guy had a sword. But a spear gives you range," the secretary said.

"You always want to have standoff where you can strike without being struck back," Esper said.

He added, "That's what extended-range cannon artillery gives us, case in point vis-à-vis the Russians."

Just as the stealthy fifth-generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighter can enter anti-access environments to soften targets for fourth-generation aircraft, the extended-range artillery cannon could help eliminate threats for ground troops and other military assets, Esper said.

"You can imagine a scenario where the Navy feels it cannot get into the South China Sea because of Chinese naval vessels, [but] we can from a fixed location," Esper said Thursday.

The 1,000-mile range cannon is part of the Army's larger effort to development long-range precision fires technology, one of the service's modernization priorities.

The commander of Army Futures Command told lawmakers in September that the newly established command was looking for smarter ways to acquire such technologies and streamline the acquisition process because of necessity.

That includes the procurement and fielding of a supergun that can fire 1,150 land miles.

"We are looking very hard and starting down the path of hypersonics and also looking at what we call the Strategic Long Range Cannon, which conceivably could have a range of up to 1,000 nautical miles," Gen. John "Mike" Murray said before the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Readiness.

Esper on Thursday did not give an estimate on when the new long-range cannon could be fielded.

Cardinal Dolan: Excommunicating Andrew Cuomo “Not an Appropriate Response” for Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth
Syndicated with permission of LifeNews.com

Millions of Catholics nationwide who want New York Governor Andrew Cuomo excommunicated from the Catholic Church for signing a bill that legalizes abortions up to birth are going to be sorely disappointed.

Through a spokesman, Cardinal Timothy Dolan said that excommunicating the governor is “not an appropriate response.” He went on to say that excommunication is typically called for by frustrated Catholics who are upset.

As a reported for CNN tweeted: “I asked @CardinalDolan‘s spokesman about the calls for Gov. Cuomo to be excommunicated over NY’s new abortion bill. While emphasizing that this should not be considered a comment on any specific person, he said excommunication “should not be used as a weapon.”

SIGN THE PETITION: Excommunicate Andrew Cuomo for Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth

The Democrat governor claims to be a devout Catholic and even quoted Pope Francis to back up his opposition to the death penalty. But he also is a radical abortion activist who threatened to hold up the state budget until the legislature passed a law legalizing abortion for basically any reason up to birth.

On Tuesday, state lawmakers did, and Cuomo celebrated. To mark the expanded killing of the unborn, he ordered that the One World Trade Center and other state landmarks be lit in pink “to celebrate this achievement and shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow.”

The so-called Reproductive Health Act goes beyond Roe v. Wade, allowing unborn babies to be aborted even when the U.S. Supreme Court has said states may restrict abortions. The law’s broad language will allow late-term abortions on viable, healthy unborn babies for basically any reason up to birth in New York.

Other Catholic leaders are calling for excommunication.

“It’s time to end the charade, even the lie, that Andrew Cuomo and others like him are Catholics in good standing,” Monsignor Charles Pope wrote at the National Catholic Register this week.

He said New York bishops have not done enough to condemn the heinous actions of so-called Catholic politicians like Cuomo.

SIGN THE PETITION: Excommunicate Andrew Cuomo for Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth

Pope wrote:

To date the Catholic bishops of New York have issued a statement expressing dismay and “profound sadness” and rang a Church bell in protest. Respectfully, that is not enough. Canonical penalties are due to the Governor and other Catholics who voted for this legislation. This is necessary both for the common good, to avoid the scandal of tolerance of evil, and as a strong summons to the governor and others to repent before the Day of Judgment. …

This cannot be allowed to stand without canonical penalties. I am not a canon lawyer, but the truth is clear that Governor Andrew Cuomo is not in communion with the Catholic Church. At this point canonical penalties forbidding him to receive Holy Communion — or even, if possible, issuing a formal excommunication — are simply affirming what is already true and what he himself has done. To fail to issue all possible canonical penalties at this point would, to my mind, show the Church to be irrelevant and a laughingstock.

Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Christine Flowers did not mention excommunication specifically in her column about Cuomo, but she did point out just how radical his stance is – both in the eyes of the Catholic Church and the general public.

“The law passed this week makes it impossible for the government to prevent a woman from choosing an abortion during the first six months,” she wrote.

She pointed to Iceland where 100 percent of unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted, saying that could happen in New York, too.

“Imagine if women in America could wait up to six months to choose abort their babies for issues even less devastating than Down’s Syndrome. What if a woman chose to abort because she wanted a boy instead of a girl? That’s feasible under Cuomo’s law,” she continued.

But J.D. Flynn, editor in chief of the Catholic News Agency and a canon lawyer, said excommunication probably will not happen.

Writing at the Washington Post, Flynn said Catholic Canon Law has very specific circumstances for excommunication, and Cuomo’s actions do not appear to “fit the bill.”

“Some experts have argued that a long history of advocacy for abortion rights demonstrates Cuomo’s implicit heresy, another canonical crime for which he might be excommunicated,” he continued. “But the path to formally declaring Cuomo a heretic is complicated, and [New York Archbishop Timothy] Dolan probably would not pursue it.”

Pressure is mounting on Dolan to do something to condemn Cuomo’s blatant hypocrisy. Flynn suggested that the archbishop could deem Cuomo’s actions “obstinate perseverance” in grave sin and deny him communion.

Cuomo’s new law flies in the face of the teachings of the Catholic Church and Christianity as a whole. He supports the unrestricted killing of unique, living babies in the womb. Abortion is a grave and despicable evil that must be condemned and swiftly.

That is worrisome!

I plan to write to Kamala or A O'C and propose that they endorse my theory of causation and a partial solution to this global warming issue. I have proposed thuis before so those of youy who have read it, my apologies.

Penguin Generated Global Warming

I believe Adele and Emperor Penguins cause global warming because their dark Tuxedo backs diminish the Antarctic albedo and cause excess absorption of Solar Energy. This is proven by the increasing rate of recession of the Antarctic Ice Pack as amply documented by Al Gore, MSNBC and other such meteorological experts. The ethical implications forbid our exterminating these inoffensive creatures and the potential loss of this species mandates that our efforts to reduce climate change cannot be harmful in any way to the Penguin Population.

I propose we mount a multi-nation effort to trap and spray paint each Penguin's back with a biodegradable, light-reflective paint. Of course, this will have to be a permanent effort since the paint will wash off when they go into the sea. While this constant effort is unfortunate, it will satisfy PETA requirements. No penguins will be harmed in this endeavor.

It will initially require perhaps 50,000 men with trappers, painters, support personnel, logistics, transport, and a new bureaucracy in Washington DC, the Dept. of Albedo Amelioration. This will be a new Cabinet Level department; it will have authority over all dark surfaces in the country, and will issue regulations for shine enhancement or abatement of shine as needed. The Secretary of this department will be a political appointee, with the responsibility of shining us on or not, as required.

This department will also Interface with a new UN Committee, UNSIAA, United Nations Shine Interdiction and Amelioration (pronounced un-see-ya). This Committee will have the authority to either increase or decrease shine as needed in various locales around the world. Their expert consultants will determine the specific actions required and their regulations will carry the force of law with the signators of the Kyota agreements.

In addition, with the advent of digital photography the ubiquitous film kiosks (UFK), which existed in shopping mall parking lots everywhere, have become useless and abandoned in many cases. These can be repurposed as Penguin Paint Kiosks (PPK).

This has many advantages; first it supports the UN Agenda21 sustainability provisions. Second it removes unsightly blight. Third, it will provide entrepreneurs an opportunity to create companies for the purposes of refurbishing these UFK shacks into PPK. Suitable contracts can be let by the government, to relatives of current pols, who will do the refurbishing at a cost of four to five hundred thousand dollars, for each UFK to PPK conversion. This will aid in job creation, which will benefit our burgeoning immigrant population.

A Penguin Snack Industry (PSI) will then be created. This will facilitate conditioning the Penguins to Queue up at the PPK (Penguin Paint Kiosks) in order to get the treats from PSI, while they are being painted. Suitable trainers, Animal Dieticians and Penguin Psychologists will be needed for the PSI conditioning effort. Penguins seem to be well organized so the need for community organizers does not exist. However, the workers will need suitable union representation for collective bargaining. This can safely be left to the private sector and will entail no cost to the government.

We face great danger from the vicissitudes of climate change induced by these Penguins. We must act on this quickly; the nation cannot afford to fall behind in the PPK acquisition race. The ravages of Penguin induced climate change demand a maximum immediate effort. Our nations safety and security cannot take second place to other nations who will attempt to monopolize UFK conversion to PPK.

To pay for all of this, let us impose a nation-wide tax on any transaction, whose proceeds will be administered by the Clinton family fund, under the auspices of the UN. Other nations will see fit to make donations to the Hill-Bill-Chelsey fund since this matter is of worldwide import. Who is more experienced or expert in seeing that such funds are properly allocated and effective in achieving these goals?

Please apply my grant moneys from the Nobel Prize to the Society for the Preservation of the Curly Tailed Ringgit.
