I don't care how nice the people in Hawaii are that you know or who they are it still does not make OIllegal a natural born citizen. According to the Constitution of the United States of America (hello) to be president of these United States you have to be a natural born citizen. It doesn't say anything about how nice the mother was or wasn't as that has nothing to do with it. A natural born citizen again requires that both the mother and the father be an American citizen and Mr Barack Obama senior was not and never was an American citizen. I don't care if he was born in Washington D.C. he is still not a natural born citizen. I don't care if these people were there at his birth and held him right after his birth unless they could magically change Obama the elder into a US citizen Obama the junior will not ever in this life or the life hereafter ever be qualified to be president of the US. So it appears that the captain of your ship the Titanic is Obama and yes at the rate he is destroying America we are indeed heading to the bottom of the sea. This is a beautiful picture of this president and you are right, he is about that observant, because he keeps hitting the same iceberg over and over again.

Thank you for the nice informative albeit sarcastic response. You appear to concede that Obama probably was natural born in Hawaii. Just that has father was not. (I'll take that as progress.) Perhaps you could explain why the Hillary
Clinton camp overlooked this little gem in their ferocious efforts to discredit Obama (far worse than the GOP).
You did not address the main point I made however about the economy. Obama IS and most likely will be the President for the next 3 years. No doubt the post mortem on his Presidency will be far and wide. It is a done deal my friend. I don't really care if he hangs for some undiscovered misdeeds in the future, we just need to heal this country and move on. Real people out there are suffering from the misdeeds of both parties and that is where I would prefer to see the energy go....into the big fix.

Glenn, "the whole world is laughing their butts off". Have you ever travelled outside the US? I travel extensively and the near universal response I hear about Obama is massively favorable. I do not agree with all his policies but in the interests of lay journalism I feel obliged to report the obvious, but perhaps that is because I am not hampered by ideology from the right or the left.
Fatuous statements like the above only reflect your opinion which while sometimes interesting is in the end trumped by the facts of the big picture.

I live in Hawaii. I never met Obama but know people who grew up with and have known him and his mother from birth. These are ordinary people, credible witnesses. When this cock-a-mamy drivel first emerged local people here were at first incredulous, then contemptuously dismissive and the issue rarely surfaces today. As I pointed out in an earlier post the GOP
leadership(?) when pressed grudgingly concede they think he is a legitimate President. If there is some massive conspiracy then the GOP and people like Bill OReilly are willing and complicit parties to the fraud.
(Does compelling logic ever come into play in the minds of some of you people?)
If there is a conspiracy then it is to create a clever distraction
about Obama's legitimacy while vulture corporations like Haliburton loot the public treasury in the name of national defense (aka the "war" in Iraq).
Every moment we waste on this kind of distraction takes away from the real issues about fixing the economy. We are the fiddlers on the afterdeck of the Titanic, just providing some entertainment while the ship goes down by the bows.

I will only address one small part of your ignorance soaked epistle.

John McCain (who I don't care for) was born of two U.S. citizen parents, active duty U.S. navy father on a U.S. Naval base (U.S. territory)

Only one part? You are skipping over the central point of my post. We get it.
you don't like Obama, but a lot of people do. Enough more than enough to win 2 elections with handsome majorities. Time to move on and sink this energy
into solutions for unemployment and the enlarging donut hole of wealth between the middle class and the three percenters.

At the risk of triggering semantics, it is true that McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone which the US had control over at the time but was not considered US territory. (The US has had control over many countries and parts of countries but control does not mean Okinawa or Iraq have ever been US territory.)

At the risk of sounding redundant. Both parents do not have to be citizens in order for the child to be a citizen, only one and the birth does not have to take place on US soil.

As and independant I sometimes tune into this discussion about Obama's non citizenship, to see if there is any new arguement to add to the mix.
Sorry, but simply and emphatically stating he is not a natural born citizen is not enough for me. I need some hard evidence. I see none. Even Bill OReilly, the Fox News(?) commentator said in a rare moment of candor that Obama's non-elegibility is a dead horse and that he believes Obama is a natural born citizen. Even if Obama had been born in another country he would only need to be the child of one US citizen to be considered "natural born". Note that John McCain was not born in the US but was considered a
natural born citizen because his parents were US citizens living abroad.
This whole spectacle has caused the GOP great harm. In the minds of many people they have (with a few exceptions) behaved like a bunch of nasty little adolescents who lost a little league game in a fair match and just can't accept that the "dark horse" (pun intended) came out of left field (pun intended) and cleaned their political clock, not once but twice. (wahhh!)

I would like to see Obama defeated in a fair election because that would mean someone would have come up with a better set of ideas and a forward vision for the country that the majority of voters could engage with. So far no such luck. Moderate Republicans are shouted down by the rage-aholics in the right of the party and some of the best conservative ideas about waste and sound fiscal management are being ignored and drowned out by this distracting cacaphony of wounded boys club rhetoric about the past. He won. Get over it and move on. Come up with BETTER ideas.
Obstinacy is not a virtue here. Listen to the Pragmatists for a change.

And Rush Limbaugh's health Plan is; First get rich by slandering and insulting the views of others on a pandering radio show that caters to the very worst aspects of human nature....ie racism, bigotry etc. Then you can afford the most expensive private health care out there.
If RL is the new face of the Republican Party then it is doomed to political oblivion. Decent fair minded Conservatives are quietly recoiling in disgust.

Want to hear from a real Independant? Lose the Ideology from either side. It is destroying the Republican Party now and a liitle ways down the timetrack, the Democratic Party also.
