Not to worry but there a lots of kool-aid drinkers that support this happening. At least 50% of the people on this site applaud what the Koch Brothers have in mind. for them & the rest of us.

Good post. This Citizens United ruling is a disaster for anyone with less than a billion dollars. Combine this with the 19th century Supreme Court ruling, that corporations are persons, in terms of rights, and you have the formula for a permanent aristocracy and a permanent peasantry.

We hear a lot of noise about the Government "over reaching" and a tremendous cacophony of voices complaining about the Presidents use of " executive orders ", but here is the most blatant misuse of power I've ever seen. The SC is NOT empowered to make law, nor is it authorized to change law. It's sole responsibility is to the constitutionality of existing law and it's attending rules.

Should the supreme court find a law unconstitutional, it can make recommendations to the Congress on how to correct the law. It does NOT have the authority to dictate to the Congress what the law will be. The lack of protest, from the Congress, about the "Citizens United" rulings, it's subsequent related campaign finance rulings and it's modification of existing campaign finance rules, is telling. The Congress becomes outraged, when the President " bypasses the Congress with executive orders", but says little, when the SC does the same.

By modifying a case before it, in order to exert it's political will, the SC not only violates it's charter, it violates the Constitution itself. There is to be only ONE legislative branch of Government, to make the laws, Only ONE administrative branch, to manage the laws and ONE judicial branch, to ensure that the laws are constitutional. It is forbidden for the SC to make or modify law, yet it does it and with the apparent blessing of the other two branches of Government. Why? the same reason as always - money. The other two branches of Gov. are willing to overlook this breach of law, because they benefit greatly by it.

Our Republic has been sold to the highest bidder and this breach of democracy has been given the appearance of legality by the SC. " we the people" will never be the highest bidder, they've got no money, the purchasers of the Republic have made sure of that. The SC has also eroded the voices of representative groups, such as unions, in it's recent rulings. If the dollar is to be the people's voice, according to the SC, then those with the most dollars have the loudest voices, which means, the majority of people will never be heard again. They can't afford the admission price.

How many of you know just how engrained the Koch brothers' political agenda is in today's conservative politics? How many of you know that, in 1980, David Koch was the Libertarian Party's vice presidential candidate? How many of you know what the platform of the Libertarian Party was, in 1980?

Senator Bernie Sanders went back in time to 1980, when David Koch ran as the Vice Presidential candidate on the Libertarian ticket. He found their platform for that year, and published it again. It is a manifesto of what David and Charles Koch expect to receive in return for their large investment in American politics.

Here is the list:

We urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.”
“We favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
“We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.”
“We also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.”
“We favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.”
“We propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.”
“We oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.”
“We support the eventual repeal of all taxation.”
“As an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.”
“We support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.”
“We advocate the complete separation of education and State. Government schools lead to the indoctrination of children and interfere with the free choice of individuals. Government ownership, operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools and colleges should be ended.”
“We condemn compulsory education laws … and we call for the immediate repeal of such laws.”
“We support the repeal of all taxes on the income or property of private schools, whether profit or non-profit.”
“We support the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency.”
“We support abolition of the Department of Energy.”
“We call for the dissolution of all government agencies concerned with transportation, including the Department of Transportation.”
“We demand the return of America's railroad system to private ownership. We call for the privatization of the public roads and national highway system.”
“We specifically oppose laws requiring an individual to buy or use so-called "self-protection" equipment such as safety belts, air bags, or crash helmets.”
“We advocate the abolition of the Federal Aviation Administration.”
“We advocate the abolition of the Food and Drug Administration.”
“We support an end to all subsidies for child-bearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children.”
“We oppose all government welfare, relief projects, and ‘aid to the poor’ programs. All these government programs are privacy-invading, paternalistic, demeaning, and inefficient. The proper source of help for such persons is the voluntary efforts of private groups and individuals.”
“We call for the privatization of the inland waterways, and of the distribution system that brings water to industry, agriculture and households.”
“We call for the repeal of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.”
“We call for the abolition of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.”
“We support the repeal of all state usury laws.

If these two could just crown themselves Dictators of the World, they would. I have honestly never encountered more evil, fascist human beings and hope a day comes where they're viewed as fringe crazies instead of legitimate political actors. They've spawned an entire generation of "me-me-me" types who actually think these are brilliant ideas, thanks to Ron Paul.

Every single one of these ideas is rooted in John Birch Society dogma. Just because Fred Koch left the Birchers back in the day doesn't mean he abandoned their overall goals. His sons are just expanding capacity for them now, not abandoning their principles.

Think about the consequences of no FAA air traffic controllers. No FDA to gauge the safety of our food and medicines. No one to make car manufacturers build safe cars and trucks. Seat belts and air bags will become things of the past. No EPA to keep our manufacturers from polluting our air and water. No one to make our manufacturers provide safe working environments for their employees. With no taxes at all, who pays for the police, fire departments, teachers, our military, our military equipment?

Be careful people. You may just get more than you bargained for if you allow the Koch brothers to control your political party.

I suggest you keep this list handy. You're going to need it in the days to come.

One more time.... FELLA!!! As far as your false allegation about the cold war, maybe youre the one who should go back and do some homework.
It was Fred Koch’s hands-on experience with Soviet Communism that convinced him of the unmitigated evil of such a system, and ultimately turned him into a passionate crusader on behalf of liberty. In 1960, three decades after his hands-on experience in the Soviet Union, he published a small but trenchant tract, A Business Man Looks at Communism, which spelled out his convictions and won many admirers. The Soviet Union, he wrote, was a “land of hunger, misery, and terror.” You guys must really need a demon to blame for progressive incompetence.

I don't know how old you are but I have lived through out the course of the Cold War with Russia.

In the mid 50's they set a systems of alarms to be used in case we would be under attack.

One night at about 3AM the alarms went off. It woke my mother & I. We looked at each other & said what do we do now? We had no real answer so we just went back to bed.

That is what I have been doing & will continue to do.

But during the 60's I did loose some sleep over the issues in Germany when I was in the army but that just meant a couple of extra months in the service.

I put more faith in my over all well being in the hands of Obama's than Putin's answers as to world problems.

I question the motives of any one living in the US that thinks otherwise.

Urges Sanctions on Russia, Weapons Shipments to Ukraine

by Jason Ditz, April 20, 2014
"Speaking today on Meet the Press, Senate Foreign Relations Committee official Sen. Bob Corker (R – TN) warned that “we’re going to lose eastern Ukraine if we continue as we are, and I think it’s going to be a geopolitical disaster.”

Sen. Corker’s comments suggest he is under the impression that eastern Ukraine has been anywhere remotely in the US sphere of influence at some point in history, a position not backed up by reality.

Corker’s belief led him to push for the US to escalate its sanctions against Russia to punish them for threatening US control over the region, saying it was time for President Obama to be more “forceful” in the area.

Corker said he wants sanctions against Russia’s government as well as its energy sector, and that the US should “beef up our security relationship with Ukraine,” including direct aid for its military which is presently attacking eastern Ukraine".
Why is it that Washington believes Ukraine belongs... (show quote)

I would say it is not much unlike an over playing of an interest in Russia being carried on by some one like you.

What goes on in Russia is of concern to all. But every thing that happens any where in the world is of concern to us all.

But at some point ones concerns get carried away. To the point of over reacting.

Things have been set in motion & there is little any one but the major players in the game can do to stop the path that is
being taken.

Willingly or not most of us will just live with what ever comes of it.

But as to who carries the most blame for what has & will happen.

It will lay with those that support & have supported the greed of the few the most.

I work mainly with my local reps to try to get change going from a community level since Washington has no use for the peoples opinions any longer.
First we need to take our communities back and then our states and feel that is the only way we will see change.
I have a lot of ideas that would be effective but would never be considered because they don't come with profits for Washington.
First we need to bring our troops home and mind our own business.

Second we need to start working towards energy independence since energy is the back bone of a country. That could easily be done by laying an infrastructure of pipelines on our east to west interstates on right of ways that we already own and provide a nat gas system to replace all diesel trucks within 10 years. This would provide jobs, clean energy, and independence. There is no reason that the big corps should be taking our resources out of the ground for just the price of extraction.
If we would have put the money into this type of project 10 years ago instead of the crony green energy agenda that only take our money then file bankruptcy we would already be independent.
