It is about safety and voting integrity having everyone actually go to the polls to vote, with photo voters I. D. And those that can't, like military over seas or people on vacations or undergoing surgery, etc, should have to apply to the election board in advance and prove who they are with their request for absentee voting. No early voting for two good reasons. One, early voting reports for certain areas would tend to influence those that haven't voted yet as to whether to bother because of turnout predicting outcomes before voting day. Two, sometimes people die or drop out and this skews the results for those that are still in the race and creates an unfair election. Another reason against all mail in voting is the fact that Democrats could find and use many ways to cheat with people voting that already moved, or are dead, or can't prove who they are. They have done this in the past. The list wound go on, like harvesting ballots, helping people in their homes to fill out their ballots.

The amount of voter fraud is practically non-existent, from a statistical POV.
The right has consistently rn around screaming about a voter ID problem that does not exist.
