I know but I have a real hard time abandoning Slats and Perm. I can't do it. What we see today IS NOT who they were. Someone has to stick around and toss them a lifeline. They best hurry up though, I'm unable to toss it very far.

Padre, save that lifeline for someone who needs it. I am very content with both who I am and the life I have led and still lead. I can't speak for Frosty, but I'm pretty certain he feels the same about himself and his life. I suggest both Frosty and myself lead very balanced lives.

Inasmuch as I think kindly of you, I also feel safe in assuming you have led a good life and maintain it in your golden years. The fact that, at times, we view life through different lenses does not take away from knowing that I think as highly of you as you must of me. I assure you that, even when in disagreement, I thoroughly enjoy our exchanges. I guess, because I'm not terribly far behind you in age, that allows me to appreciate your Faith, passion, intellectualism, communication skills - and feistiness

Enjoy your evening, my friend.

Horseshit is a poor excuse for reality. TDS was already evident when the clamor for Trump's impeachment was echoed by the WAPO before he took the oath of office and the persecution has never stopped. Blade perfectly expressed how the DNC State Controlled Marxist Media Propaganda Bureau's created your Trump TDS when he penned:

"The Donald Trump the left hates so viciously is a media construct, a caricature, a false image of a man anyone would hate. They paint their picture of him as the most evil man that ever existed. They hate him more than the Jews hated der Fuhrer. As I see it, they're doing the work of the devil. And, one day, there will be a Reckoning."

It's true! If one believes leftist Propaganda little choice is left except to hate Trump.

I expect you consider yourself too cerebral and balanced to presume that almost everything you believe about Trump you received directly or indirectly thru the MSM. "He's a grifter, a rapist, a con artist, doesn't pay his bills or his contractors, a Putin puppet, a wannabe dictator, an insurrectionist, a traitor, a racist, etc." You hear a lie often enough it magically becomes irrefutable truth. Of course you believe all these inuendoes because everyone says they're true. Every word Trump now utters (ie. bloodbath) the Left attacks to purposely influence simple minded people that Trump is the most evil creature imaginable; they cannot attack his success or tout their own so their only recourse is to attack the person. Then, of course, the most evil, cultural Marxist administration, led by one who has already caused America irreparable harm, a genuinely despicable man whose actual character is in the sludge at the bottom of the sewer goes unscathed, and TDS dictates your loyalty to Biden and your hatred of Trump.

An NPR editor just confessed that there are 87 Democrsts on their staff and zero Republicsns. That their programming was deliberately crafted to destroy Trump and their main source of information came from Adam Schiff. This is a tax supported organization where one would expect them to be balanced instead of a radical leftist mob. Yet they are probably the most balanced of all the DNC State Controlled Marxist Media Propaganda Bureau's.

Where do you get your "fair and balanced" information? I expect it's only from a source that supports your TDS. 😊
Horseshit is a poor excuse for reality. TDS was ... (show quote)

Did you even read my posting? The following excerpt is from the posting you responded to above. The quotes contained within are from an August 2015 op-ed in The American Spectator - not a stalwart of liberal thought - but instead, a revered American conservative publication since 1967.

...The first use of the term 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' may have been by Esther Goldberg in an August 2015 op-ed in The American Spectator; she applied the term to "Ruling Class Republicans" who were/are dismissive or contemptuous of Trump. Krauthammer, in an op-ed harshly criticizing Trump, commented that—in addition to general hysteria about Trump— "Trump Derangement Syndrome" was the "inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and ... signs of psychic pathology" in his behavior. The term has been described as something used by conservative groups whenever someone speaks out critically against Trump, regardless of political affiliation...

Unless I'm mistaken, August of 2015 was well before the campaign and election of 2016...thus, also well before Trump took the oath of office. Yet, according to your post, "TDS was already evident when the clamor for Trump's impeachment was echoed by the WAPO before he took the oath of office and the persecution has never stopped." However, the evidence of TDS came from respected conservative members of the GOP.

One can reasonably assume "fair and balanced" information means something different to you - right alongside 'alternative facts'. Sorry, Mike, but your TDS glows like a neon sign.

I remember both Slats & Perm 8 or 9 year ago when both were far more balanced before TDS grabbed them. That memory still gathers respect.

TDS Sorry, Mike, the imbalance originated from the GOP side of the political spectrum.

TDS was originally a made up condition, conceived as a derisive label by the alt-right to attack anyone who criticizes or refuses to support Donald Trump. The idea was that others were so obsessed with Trump that many had collectively lost their minds. Unfortunately like many of their other little online crusades, this has backfired. People dislike Trump for actual reasons which often go well beyond just politics or partisanship, and if anyone has TDS, it's very often those that blindly support him.

The origin of the term is traced to conservative political columnist and commentator Charles Krauthammer, a psychiatrist, who coined the phrase 'Bush Derangement Syndrome' in 2003 during the presidency of George W. Bush. That syndrome was defined by Krauthammer as "the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency—nay—the very existence of George W. Bush". The first use of the term 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' may have been by Esther Goldberg in an August 2015 op-ed in The American Spectator; she applied the term to "Ruling Class Republicans" who were/are dismissive or contemptuous of Trump. Krauthammer, in an op-ed harshly criticizing Trump, commented that—in addition to general hysteria about Trump— "Trump Derangement Syndrome" was the "inability to distinguish between legitimate policy differences and ... signs of psychic pathology" in his behavior. The term has been described as something used by conservative groups whenever someone speaks out critically against Trump, regardless of political affiliation.

TDS has been used in a more generalized sense inclusive of positive emotions as well as hatred towards Trump. For example, TDS accounts for denialism about Trump's defeat in the 2020 election, as a political diagnosis of people who simply can't accept the fact that he lost the election. This new definition derogatorily describing the nature of Trump followers rather than his deriders has been picked up by others and widely used.

TDS is related to gaslighting, another psychological concept in vogue during the Trump era.

Like all true con artists, The Donald has the ability to spout unadulterated crap that numbers of his TDS followers perceive as pearls of wisdom. Or to put it another way, serving up piles of steaming excrement and having his followers eat it up like it is filet mignon.

Ummmmmm. I think she is preparing your medication. One of your most prevalent symptoms is projecting your own issues and proclivities onto others. Some of us on here base our opinions on facts and credible evidence. Not you, of course. Gotta get ready for church. Have a good day, Slatten.

Actually, I believe the message within the relevant posting was a simple one: Unwarranted pride and arrogance too often makes us seem artificial, while humility generally makes the right estimate of oneself. BTW, I was addressing all OPPers.

With regard to "facts and credible evidence", I'm afraid that too often posters substitute alternative facts for actual facts...not you, of course

You have a good day yourself, Randy.

Agree with your post but one needs to understand what you said - since it was stated in words with more than one syllable Slaten probably didn’t get your point

Funny, in that I took it to mean he didn't get the point of my post. To be honest, I'm not sure you did/do.

Realizing that you probably have trouble with comprehension in communicating outside of Big Chief tablets with monosyllabic words written with big block letters in crayon, I'll remind you that 'Slatten' is spelled with two 't's and is possessed of two syllables. Also, I shall point out that a quick perusal of your postings exposes personal deficiencies and repeated attempts at criticizing others.

Your lame attempts at criticizing others reminds me of the ol' proverb, "physician, heal thyself"'.

Gee Arch, I live in NH and everyone I meet is very kind. Maybe we should avoid sweeping generalizations and conclude that there are a few a-holes everywhere that ruin it for everybody. I'm sure everyone in Texas isn't pure as the driven snow ❄️

Good post This may be one of the few, if not the only time we agree.

BTW, though Arch & I are "pure as the driven snow," not quite everyone in Texas is.

Few people had funnier or smarter quotes than Cliff Clavin from the TV show, 'Cheers'.

“It’s a little known fact that the tan became popular in the Bronze Age.”

“A Freudian slip is when you say one thing when you’re really thinking about a mother.”

“The human brain can only operate as fast as its slowest brain cells. Too much alcohol kills brain cells, especially the slower, weaker ones. So, regular consumption of beer eliminates the slower brain cells after you’ve had a few beers which will speed up your brain.”

“It’s a little known fact that pigs are the smartest animal. Scientists say that if pigs had thumbs and a language that they could be trained to do manual labor. They give you 20 to 30 years of loyal service and then at their retirement dinner, you can eat them.”

“Ah, just like all women. If they’re not turning down your proposal of marriage, they're accusing you of suspicious behavior in the lingerie changing room.”

“There is no rule against postal workers dating women. It just works out that way.”

“Everyone in the Swiss Army owns a Swiss Army knife. That’s why no one messes with Switzerland.”

They did a study between postal workers and chimpanzees. They proved chimps were 32% slower. Of course, they were better at public relations.”

‘A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it’s the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.”

“An interesting article here. It says humans only use 17% of their brain. Boy, you realize what that means? We don’t use a full, ah……64%.”

“You wanna see the dark side? You oughta see Ma when you leave the shower curtain outside the tub.”

Prolonged time on this forum has confirmed a quote attributed to Mark Twain. I would guess others concur..."The rule is perfect: In matters of opinion, our adversaries are insane."

Many posters are Randle Patrick McMurphy-type characters escaping their everyday routines. And like him, once entering the OPP asylum, it is difficult to leave the madness as it becomes addictive. Each is drawn in by the insanity of those who would disagree with his/her perfectly defined views of life, and can't understand why they don't possess the clarity he/she does in knowing the truth of all matters. If only all others could see the world as clearly as each OPP-er does, the world would be a better place.

Due to this prevailing attitude, diversity in opinion is too often lambasted. As a result, the OPP forum often resembles a cuckoo's nest. Nurse Ratched, where are you
