Bahmer, Not sure what your historical source is, but in 1775 there was no need for the newly-founded Marines to fight Muslims per the following:

Further for historical clarity, Jefferson's presidency was 1801-1809.
What is the real reason for your historically conflating Marines protecting us from Muslims? Do you have evidence that there were Muslim sailors aboard British ships during the Revolutionary War (circa 1775)?
Incidentally, every Marine knows the date of the birth of the Marine Corps--it is a special day; great chow too.

Of course, the President is charged with administration. But the loyalty of the oath is to the Constitution--to defend and protect the Constitution--read it! listen to it.
It is not unlike a member of the armed forces receiving an order from his or her commander that is illegal; he is obligated under penalty of law to not carry that order out. All those hanged Nazis tried to use "I was just carrying out orders" defense--it did not work because people in charge are expected to be responsible for their actions, right down to privates in the Marine Corps. His/her ultimate loyalty is to the Constitution (law) and not to the commander who issued the illegal order. It applies to everyone including the Commander in Chief as one who issues orders and one who also took the oath to protect and defend the Constitution. This is pretty basic civics 101, and you should know it.

And I was right as Reagan's second term showed-at least he was somewhat honest. From then on I stayed in the middle. But then while I stayed in the middle the conservatives moved right, and then way right. Strangely enough that left me leftish without moving. I don't think I have changed much from my middle days. I suspect this is the political story of many older people who have serious economic concerns about the country's debt as well as real worries about the shrinking to a vanishingly small middle class. I don't see Trump solving or even trying to solve these kinds of serious problems.
