The Pumpkinfuhrer has joined other nutters in suggesting that arming teachers will keep schools safer, let’s look at this proposal realistically. There are about 130,000 schools in the country and almost four million teachers. If you armed a quarter of them this would distribute a million firearms over the schools putting about 9 guns on average in each school. Of those million guns how many will be lost, stolen from a teachers desk, locker, car or purse? How many teachers in physical altercations with students will be disarmed? This happens to police officers all too often. Will a couple of those teachers of the million go off their rocker and become a shooter themselves? It is insane to think that dumping a million guns into our schools would save more people from assault weapon massacres than it would kill by accident, misuse or theft.
