Might you be talking about the low tax, booming economy we see today?
30 years of conservative economics have brought this country to the brink of bankruptcy.

Or:

The war mongering that comes mainly from conservatives. Think John Mc Cain and Lindsay Graham, for example.

Or:

The way conservities drive the spending of $700,000,000,000 on defense, even though it is more than the next 15 countrys, combined, 14 of which are allies. Conservities hate spending, unless it if for things that will kill people, think, bombs, guns, tanks.

(It dose make one question their thinking on abortion though?)

I guess I'll stop with three examples, but you all know there are many more.

The conservative experiment has been a abject failure.

Period.

I agree.

Congress is always exempting themselves from laws they make.

If Congress makes a law, they should have to live with it!!

I don't care how you phrase it, or how unfair it might seem,

WE DON'T NEED TO GET INVOLVED IN ANOTHER WAR.

Syria has no good options, neither side is democratic, all sides are unfriendly to the US.

Why should we get involved?

Let things play out and then help pick up the bits that are left.

"No matter how many different ways you illustrate this, it's still pretty remarkable. Instead of trying to ameliorate the effects of a broad economic trend, we've done everything we possibly can to accelerate it. That includes tax policy, financial deregulation, trade policy, anti-labor policy, and much more. And since there's approximately zero evidence that any of this has actually increased economic growth, it means that U.S. policy for the past 30 years has been aggressively dedicated to shifting income share away from the poor and middle class and into the pockets of the already rich.

Remarkable."

Remarkable indeed!!

You guys can't be serious. When you say "think outside the box" the "box" is reality and you think up conspiracies. I see no sober consideration of the facts and trying to get to the truth but only hate for the president and looking to spread that hate. Hate blinds. You may feel like you are the patriots but what you are doing is helping to make our system of government inoperable.
Social programs is not socialism and any decent government, one under God, will have such programs.

Anything that comes out differently than how you want to believe is a liberal conspiracy: the polls, fact-checkers, research companies, news reports.

I think you might be right.

Bill Mahar speaks of Republicans being "In the Bubble." There is a lot of truth to that.

As a friend of mine used to say, "My mind's made up, don't confuse me with the facts."

Could be, grazeem. All any of us knows about each other is what side of each issue we stand on. Do I judge my friendships on the basis of how each stands on each and every issue? No, I don't. But I DO select friends based on a collection of issues on which a person and I agree. It's difficult to build a deep friendship when personalities are so opposed. Some things are more important to me than friendships - and I suspect the same is true of most people. Individual freedoms are one of the most important issues for me. Doing away with partial birth abortions is probably number one. It is too gruesome for any decent society to condone it. It reminds me of human sacrifices which is what it truly IS. Off track. Tell me how we relate?

You are talking about the third trimester.

In Pennsylvania, where I lived then, they passed a bill that said that you could have an abortion up through the second trimester, 24 weeks.

I said then that is a woman couldn't make up her mind in 6 months, whether she wanted a kid or not, she should have it.

Now on the other hand, some defects don't show up, until later, and that would have to be in my thinking, but in general I wouldn't have an issue with your position.

But abortion should be safe and legal.

I do think that there is a part of this issue, that has not been discussed.

We are only about 12 to 15 years into the computer revolution, where everything is on computers, and that computers themselves are big and powerful enough to do the things that they are accused of doing.

An example:

Cars started out and had low horse power (HP) engines, and then through the 60's they kept getting more and more powerful. Until they were powerful to the point of being ridiculous. We wanted more and more, and didn't know any better.

Now things have calmed down and we get along with the power we need.

I think computers have gotten to the ridiculous stage, and the people running them don't know when to quit. They do things because they can, not because they need to.

The only way to control that is to have Congress make laws that will say, you have all the HP you need, I don't care how much you want.

It might be a poor example, but it's the best I could do, I hope you understand the meaning.

Beautifully said, McCarty. I don't know about these two individuals, but I do believe most progressives have inferiority complexes, no matter how educated and no matter how wealthy they may be, and I think they hate us because we seem so "secure" within ourselves that they see us as smug. We aren't "smug", we are merely "normal", but that escapes their grasp.

From what I have read, you and I would have more in common that you might think.

On the other hand, there are others, on here, that I wouldn't say that about.

It never ceases to amaze me, how you Conservative Republicans can be on both sides of the fence.

You are always crying to get the government off your back. "Keep the government out of my life." What we need is small government."

EXCEPT:

If if it has anything to do with sex or sexuality, then you are perfectly okay with government intrusion.

You want to control abortion. Something that should be between a woman, her doctor, and her partner, and not the government.

You want to prevent people that were born with, what is considered, non normal sexuality, from having the right to do, what any "straight" person wouldn't think twice about doing.

You want to prevent them from jobs, prevent them from getting married, and I am sure if I were one of these people, I could present a longer list.

There are some things that are NOT the governments business. These are two of them.

Do you know who was against legalizing RU486, the so-called "Morning After Pill", in the USA? Planned Parenthood. Why? It's because the abortion mills are big money makers.

RU 486 is NOT the morning after pill.

It is a two pill regament, that is used to cause abortion.

The morning after pill, is a large dose of a common birth control pill.
