It appears that the rebels in Syria are being beaten since Hezbollah came in to help Assad. Now we find US Marines going into Lebanon and Russian fleets arriving and on the way. You can also find mention of the UK and France involved, supposedly, through NATO.

''With the US-backed rebels on the run, the Russian-backed Syrian army and its Hezbollah allies look to continue rolling up one rebel position after another. That is, unless the UK, the US and France get their way and NATO forces are quickly sent in to save the Syrian revolution. And if that’s going to happen, it’s going to have to happen now. What Russia, China and Iran might do in response is anyone’s guess."

Now I am going to show the cold-heartedness the left always accuses me of: Keep Americans at home and let the Middle East turn itself into a huge plate of glass. Get all the Jews out of the ME and let the Arab states go at it! It might well be the most humane thing we could do, but regardless of that, do NOT put Americans in harms' way. We KNOW that makes us everybody's enemy.

Amazing how we always back the losers. Then the losers turn around and badmouth us, take the money and run, and lets not forget, $*^t on us and laugh all the way to the bank. We need our military in the U.S., not policing the world.

But the Russians are sending fleets to support Hezbollah so it just makes sense that we have to send Marines to Lebanon, just in case they are needed.  That seems to be the reasoning coming from the Obama administration, anyway.

My thoughts? Let Russia do all the lifting. If we ever need to fight Russia, that's a different story.

I propose the following:
We stay out of it until we are directly asked to come in. Those making the request pay money up front at the same rate it would cost for mercenaries. We then exclude all media from the arena, shooting those that are found. We then wipe the floor with the Assad government and it allies, by whatever means necessary. Pillage the country for all it is worth. When pillaging is finished, we set up the puppet government that will turn against us as soon as we leave. We exit country and say we are done. For every soldier that dies to protect those of another nation, a bounty of 30 years pay will be deposited into the soldier's beneficiaries accounts. This will not make up for the soldiers death, but should make those trying to enlist our aid take a step back and think before asking for it.

Since my plan will never be implemented, I am all for Tasine's idea to "let the Middle East turn itself into a huge plate of glass" become a reality with one small change. We remove all our allies from the region, then WE turn the place to glass.

But he is suggesting that we take the Russians on and that may be pretty tough with all the others around. We could have depended on Turkey for help but the present government is shifting from secular to Muslim and that takes away their democratic government. It may be tough to defeat armies instead of terrorists.

If the politicians and the media stayed out of the way of our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen, they can accomplish anything, and do it with extreme prejudice, effectively and in a very short time period. Look how fast things happened during Operation Desert Storm.

This damned politically correct environment and the hatred of our military by this administration is the only detriment to deploying our military anywhere. That includes right here at home.

If a situation like Operation Desert Storm were run then like it would be now, our soldiers would have been defeated, disgraced and treated like the veterans were at the end of the Viet Nam era.

Exactly so, McCarty. When corruption abounds within any government, NOTHING works as it should because it is actively PREVENTED from working properly.

Surely you are very right but Obama has done plenty of damage to our military up to now and here he is putting Marines in Lebanon in hopes he can intimidate Syria and Hezbollah who are right now winning in Syria. Surely someone will tell him that what he is trying to do won't work after 4 1/2 years of him being the Commander in Chief.

It is my perception that the officers who have that knowledge have either retired and the ones remaining value their retirement package more then providing answers not agreeing with the administrations thoughts.

  to "my" Alex :!:

Off topic, one would wonder why the committee investigating Benghazi has not requested General Petraus' presence either as a request or subpoena.
