You're asking readers not to believe what their eyes tell them.
Buildings don't collapse from fire damage. None ever have in the hundred year history of skyscrapers. If a skyscraper could fall from fire damage it would be a gradual collapse over a period of hours and the towers would have to be totally consumed by flames. The debris from the collapse would fall straight down rather than being propelled hundreds of feet outward from the center. The concrete floors would remain intact until they hit the ground instead of being pulverized as they fall. The fires in the South Tower burned for less than an hour. That's not nearly enough time to weaken even the top section. The North tower caught fire on the 11th floor in 1975 and burned for three times as long as the South Tower on 9/11. The steel was not damaged enough to require repair or replacement.
