It sounds like we are headed down the same road to riches that Detroit took and look how well they are doing. We are rapidly reaching critical mass towards that end and the future is looking bleak. Good Luck America.

And what propaganda site did this come from? Please post

US Population grew 7 Million since Bush. So Obama lost jobs

Obama 2014. 155.862 mil. 146.600 mil. 9.262 mil. 5.9%

Workforce increased under Obama not decreased. So take into account the baby boomers retiring early and the increase in stay at home Moms. Number of people applying for SS disability. Number of people opening there own business. There's your figures.

Your so out of touch with facts and common sense. These numbers of leaving the workforce have always been there. It's just the GOPTP use it now as a talking point. Now just go away please your stupid and I can't convince you that you are stupid because your to stupid.

td-the first and last paragraph of your original post are contradictory. The GOPTP is not in power (it is not even a party). The democrats and your idol have been in power for the past six years and it is their policies which have failed. 92 million out of the work force means 92 million not working. Some have retired and others cannot find a job. For those who retired, their job apparently has not been filled. Correct ? Otherwise, the participation rate would have remained the same. The only people whose unemployment rate is below 6% are the illegals invited here by Obama. Good Luck America !!!

Retired, stay at home parents , HS students above the age of 16, college students, baby boomers retiring early not on SS yet, SS disability recipients, I can go on and on this number has always been there it's just the GOPTP have chosen to use it now as a talking point look up the same under Bush. Those out of workforce numbers were worse under Bush it's a real number but it's always been there.

The reason this has never been brought up in the past is because this country over the last 10 years is getting older, the share of the population past retirement age is increasing, and if you use a little common sense with the baby boomers it makes sense. We have 10,000 people a day retiring.

The 92 million figure is propaganda at its best.

Don't tell me the GOPTP has no power they own the house which they block everything Obama tries to do. They have the filibuster in the Senate. So to make a statement they have no power is just dumb and a typical GOPTP lack of how our government works.

Mr tdsrnest, you want to talk about employment numbers. These statistics and definitions are all readily available on the BLS website. No “cooked” numbers about people not in the labor force. All these stats are from the beginning of Obama’s presidency and show that here has been an increase of 2.1 million people who are either unemployed, part-time, or discouraged workers. And we're better off than we were six years ago? Hardly!

Increase in civilian non-institutional population (Persons 16 years of age and older residing in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, who are not inmates of institutions (e.g., penal and mental facilities, homes for the aged), and who are not on active duty in the Armed Forces): 14.7 million – 6.3 percent

Increase in civilian labor force (All persons in the civilian non-institutional population classified as either employed or unemployed): 1.6 million – 1.0 percent

Increase in employed persons (All persons who, during the reference week (week including the twelfth day of the month), (a) did any work as paid employees, worked in their own business or profession or on their own farm, or worked 15 hours or more as unpaid workers in an enterprise operated by a member of their family, or (b) were not working but who had jobs from which they were temporarily absent. Each employed person is counted only once, even if he or she holds more than one job.): 1.2 million – 0.9 percent

Increase in full-time workers (35 hours or more per week): 400 thousand – 0.3 percent

Increase in part-time workers (1 to 34 hours per week): 800 thousand – 14.2 percent

Increase in discouraged workers (Persons outside the labor force who want a job): 1.0 million – 20.5 percent

Increase in unemployed persons (All persons who had no employment during the reference week, were available for work, except for temporary illness, and had made specific efforts to find employment some time during the 4 week-period ending with the reference week. Persons who were waiting to be recalled to a job from which they had been laid off need not have been looking for work to be classified as unemployed.): 300 thousand – 3.8 percent

How about rather than fight over which numbers are the right numbers, we look at results...

Amoung all the nations which were blasted by the bankers, we are doing better then most.. better than all of mainland Europe. Only Iceland comes to mind as doing better..

Locally, if it is not improving in your home town, it does not count..
In my state, good jobs are begging, over the 6 years, trained workers have been lost and have no one to replace them... Construction is doing TV commercials to train and get to work, even on the job training... CMC, this is mfg but I know nothing else, maybe go the letters wrong.. they are begging, a local co, up in this wild country, is in need of 11 workers, pay between 20 and 30 bucks... Generally a lot of "now Hiring " signs....

Car sales are way up according to the ads... Always a good indicator of people spending...

For some age groups this last 6 yrs must have been brutal....If you got out of any school in 2008 and that job was nowhere, you had to suffer... And if in mid 50s and you job vanished. What a blow..

So I hope it is getting better for all...

And think about this, the rapidly falling gas prices, all that money can go into mall runs...(Saw 2.98 Friday in the twin cities)...

1st nobody is making it difficult to create work. That is a dumb statement. If you expect me to waste my time on a heritage link. Go sit a talk with Sean Hannity.

When you read garbage you become stupid to the facts. You don't know how to add. The workforce numbers under Bush was actually worse than Obama. I look at the BLS numbers.

The not looking for work numbers have been there for years. It has been made a talking point by the GOPTP and your propaganda news. Which is based on retirement, Baby boomers retired early, stay at home moms, High School students 16 and older, college students, and also the country is getting older, the share of the population past retirement age is increasing. Even in good economic times this would tend to drive the work participation rate down. And the facts have shown this to be happening over the last 10 years.

So if you want to deal with just a little bit of common sense, this leaving the workforce number has always been there and the numbers were actually a little worse under Bush than Obama. But what pisses me off is you read shit you believe shit and never bother to fact check or try to get to where these numbers come from.

Just as a little fact for you to maybe do some math which you have a problem

Approximately 10,000 baby boomers per day are reaching the age of 65 and most are retiring. Plus we have a large number retiring and leaving the workforce early.

Number of stay at home moms or dads has increased from 23% to 29% due to a major increase in childcare.

I could go on and on but there are facts behind all these numbers. The leaving the workforce had always been there. But it's a useless number. It has been made a talking point by the GOPTP. Obamas numbers fluctuate because of the baby boomers and the increase in stay at home moms. So stop your BS with your chirp chirp and just for once use a little common sense.
