I was talking about violent right wing thugs. American rightwing thugs, of course are not exact carbon copies of their European "brethren".

I hope u don't really believe that those who carry the rebel flag are thugs.

Of course I do. So do many others. Are you aware that there are many organizations that are boycotting Mississippi because they refuse to remove the confederacy symbol from their state flag???

Boycotts= lost conventions, lost tourism, lost dollars.

Flying the symbol of slavery (let's not kid ourselves about advancing southern "culture") is viewed by many as no better than flying the Swastika....The confederate battle flag to Black Americans is the symbol of slavery, lynchings, and segregated public facilities. It is a symbol of bigotry and hate.

I appreciate your first two sentences..the last sentence was unneccessary ...I'm not sure why some people here cannot just say that no one should ever hope for the president to be assassinated....period

Anigav6969

Okay, No one should EVER advocate ANY assassination.

There are hate groups that use that as their symbol. As a white southerner I myself don't fly one because I have friends of many races and I don't wish to offend them. But I see both sides of the coin.I know many who have a rebel flag on something they own and have never heard any raicial comments from their mouths.blanket statement on any subject are never correct.

It's interesting, that even now...someone might say " of course no one should hope for such a thing."..but then throw in a dig like " we don't need a race riot " or this would only leave us with Biden"
Kind of saying in a roundabout way they are against it but not because it is wrong but because they wouldn't like the repercussions

Pretty scary so far

angigav6969-the fact that Obama promised to transform America and is doing his best to take the country down a peg it does not warrant assassination by any stretch of the imagination. The man is not doing a good job as president but if everyone who is not performing up to standards were assassinated the morticians would indeed be busy. Such talk is nonsense. He is probably doing the best he can but is pursuing a faulty ideology. He surrounded himself with academia most of whom do not have any private sector experience so they do not have anything to draw from except what some liberal professor taught them. The results speak for themselves. Good Luck America !!!

It was part of your poll as to the reason for an individual's answer, hence his last sentence was not "unnecessary". Read your own posting.

By the way, my answer is NO.

Oh no. Sick idea all around. It would cause instability to our nation. He is the father of 2 girls. I wish no pain on his family.

Making a martyr of him would be terrible. The JFK legend is bigger than his accomplishments. Obama's failures would be forgotten too soon.

No way! No matter how much I disagree with his policies, I do not want to see him assassinated! Never should the president of the U.S. be murdered because some ding bat has an issue with him! It is wrong in every way!

Most of our Presidential Assassins whether successful or not were left wing nuts. Where political leaning could be determined.

Vern, Mississippi is the only former state that has retained the confederate battle flag on its state flag (its in the upper left hand corner). None of the other southern states do so anymore.

Avoiding Mississippi is not hard. Most Americans have never visited there and a sizable number don't want to. It's not exactly a tourist hot spot.

As far as the Dixie flag being part of history...so was the swastika. Try flying that somewhere.

Bill Clinton had no problem flying the Confederate Flag over the Arkansas State House
