YES! I love the writing of C.S. Lewis; one of the great 20th Century Christian apologists. In “Mere Christianity” he wrote:

“We do know that no person can be saved except through Christ. We do not know that only those who know Him can be saved by Him.”

Several of his books can be found on our shelves, but my first introduction to Lewis was reading his Narnia children’s books when I was young - over and over and over! I think I read them at least 4 or 5 times through, then two or three more times as an adult when I read them aloud to my own children, and once again just a few years ago, during the pandemic - just for me. It was like comfort food for the soul.

In the final Narnia book, “The Last Battle” Lewis hinted at the substance of the thought imparted by those two sentences from “Mere Christianity” when he wrote the end of the character Emeth’s story.

In “Stumbling Into Heaven: Emeth, Aslan, and The Last Battle,” blogger Matt Mikalatos explains it better than anything i could write. It’s a truly good read - and even pretty short! 😊

Thanks for correcting my paraphrase. I was speaking from memory so I wasn't too far off. Another of his books, one which I enjoy in a little different style, is "The Screwtape Letters." It is "written" by a subsidiary of the devil to his underling, I believe, and gives a different perspective on how the devil works. In fact I have it on my shelf and I think I will pull it out and do a bit more reviewing. Hope you enjoy your reading.
