Guess you missed a bit. My SS is over $3k a month and my wife's is over $2k. I was a consulting engineer for about 50 years and I paid max SS percent for over 40 years. Wife was a 4 year degreed RN. And my savings are actually increasing as CDs on tax paid money. So, I only pay taxes on the interest. Ran my own engineering firm for 5 years (Age 65 to age 70). Worked only QC for the Navy those years. Designed things for every branch of our military and won a lawsuit settled by the SCOTUS. Also worked as expert witness and in 17 countries. Sometimes for the World Bank. Yep. I have no mortgage, no loans, no debt on credit cards. Doing just fine, thank you. Oh, yeah, a second home for summers in the Great Smokie Mountains. Main home in Florida. And we carry the loan for a person we sold a house to. And we add another one to two thousand a month to savings accounts. So, your guesstimate is a bit short.

So, it sounds to me that because you’re living such an extravagant lifestyle that your monthly expenses are at least double ours maintaining two houses and all. I may have also miscalculated how much savings you had to generate $1500 to $2000 income per month. So, if you double my wife’s and my expenses which allow us to live an upper middle-class lifestyle and what sounds like according to you is probably in the top 10% for you, I may have miscalculated. I’ve got bad news for you… your savings is likely to be depleted in a little over 5 years.

I guess you did not read all I wrote, like the part where I stated that we add about $2k to our savings every month, spending only the interest. We do not live a lavish lifestyle. That, too, is your assumption. Not a fact. When I first retired at 65, we moved to our 37 acres in Arkansas that we bought years earlier and had a mobile home added and a barn built there. Location is on Bull Shoals Lake near the Missouri border. For the next 5 years, I ran a small engineering company from there. At 70, we sold the place and bought an RV and began travelling to every state in the union. We had already spent months in Hawaii while I provided construction quality control for one of my projects in Pearl Harbor, a submarine deperming facility in Middle Loch. And had earlier been in Alaska twice, so did not try to drag an RV up the ALCAN Hwy. We worked as campground hosts at various state parks and federal campgrounds from Louisiana to Utah. We discovered that we liked the freedom of the RV lifestyle. No lawn to maintain, not much to sweep, easy to clean, and spend our time doing what we wanted to do, not being tied to maintaining a stick built house. Now, we live in two RVs. On in Florida and One in N. Carolina. Summer/winter homes. We like it that way. And if we decide to move, we can, easily. Photos one of our RVs and a photo of our yard in Arkansas. We like it just likle this. But Lavish??? Hardly! That is your erroneous assumption.

Oh yeah - here are two of our homes. The Bighorn on Lake Okeechobee, Florida. The one on our truck ready to go elsewhere was shot in Louisiana, south of New orleans, near Shell Beach. It is a different lifestyle, but it is what we enjoy, and that is all that matters to us.

Nothing but lie, more lies, and damn lies from the right. I am one heck of a lot better off now than I was 4 years ago. Trump's market was way down, the deficit was way up, trump failed to do the right things about Covid 19, so more people died than should have. Wages are up today. The market is hitting new highs, up around 10 percent so far in 2024. The idiot MAGAS refuse to read or understand anything that contains truth or facts, so their comments are are gibberish based on lies.

Absolute facts. Not my fault if you did not do as well as I did in working and planning for my retirement.
