You should pray only to God not Mary or anyone else the bible makes that clear. Also no one but God can absolve and forgive sins, not a priest or the pope, those are several things that are clear in the bible.😉

No priest or Pope ever claims they can absolve sin yet Christ clearly left the authority to His church to both forgive or retain sin in heaven and earth thru his clergy. The clergy only pronounce that which Christ alone can do. Going into our closet to ask forgiveness of our sins every day is expected. However if one finds themselves constantly asking forgiveness for the same serious sin then they need to see a priest, confess and dump it permanently and that will happen when you hear Christ pronounce His forgiveness thru His priest. If Jesus was sitting in one confessional and a priest beside Him in another confessional and the pronounce of forgiveness is given to each penitent they are equal because both come thru Christ. Period! I would not tell you this if it was not true. But you sure don't have to believe me.

I have never heard that. Saints are supposed to have influence over God, thus you pray to them asking for their help to get what you are praying for. Protestants jettisoned this idea during the Reformation.

Did google tell you this?

Catholics pray to saints to intercede for them to God. I only pray to God!!

There is one intercessor between God and man that is the Lord Jesus/ Holy Spirit. (The bible.) Not even the Saints can take our prayers before God.

One sister of mine has some 'radical' religious beliefs, at least in my opinion. She believes since Catholics worship saints, then the 5th Commandment prevails... 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me' (saints) ....so thusly Catholics will never get into Heaven. Just wondering if that's a common belief or not. Please, no snark... I am only asking a question. Thank you.

According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, you DO NOT "worship" saints. You can pray to a saint to intercede on your behalf with the Lord only.

If I am not mistaken Mennonites and the Amish are both subsets of the AnaBaptists am I right XXX? The Mennonites accept and use modern conviences and participate in political elections while the Amish don't. at the National level. If I am wrong please let me know. I think sense of humor on these sites is essential and I love the posts like BabylonBee. So keep your humor going cause I will.

There are both old and modern schools of Mennonites. My husband has not been a practicing Mennonite for many decades, but his family were of the "modern" sects. They wore regular clothes, drove cars, danced, etc. The way he describes how he was brought up is actually fairly similar to the way I was brought up as a Catholic. The Amish that live around here are what you say....they dress in the long home-made dresses, wear bonnets and don't talk much to "outside" people. They have farm stands and sell things, too, but they don't come out and talk to you as the Mennonites and Pennsylvania Dutch do.

My husband's mother kept her father's buggy. She put it in her yard and made a little garden out of it under a big old oak or elm tree with a bench and a little pond. Two days after she died, the buggy collapsed and fell to the ground in a heap for no reason that anyone can figure out. It wasn't broken or cracked...no storm...it just seemed to kind of die along with her...

Again you are correct. I belong with the midatlantic mennonite conference. A modern mennonite group.

Your story of the buggy is interesting. My great-grandfather was horse and buggy mennonite. The joewenger group. They tend to shun the internet and cars. Well to each their own.

Some of the greatest things about Catholics are:
1. We take the Holy Eucharist, the body and blood of Christ. The Covenant of Christ with his people. Christ said, "Do this in memory of me."
John 10:17:18
Matthew 26:27

2. The Virgin Mother Mary, very powerful advocate to Christ. Miracles happen thru the Virgin mother.
3.Decent dress, to cover the body. No nude and bare boobs.
4. No abortions allowed. God created the baby from conception to grave.
5. No LGBTQ and TRANS, could marry. God intends only man and woman can marry for intimacy. Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; or Mathew 19:18
6.We worship One God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit One God forever and ever, Amen.
7.We don't judge. That is God's authority.
8. WE have the Holy Rosary; miracles happen praying the Holy Rosary.

8. We love all Christians, and even non-Christians. For God said, "Love they neighbor as thyself." And for loving all we could convert one's faith to Christ. Many Muslims have converted to Christ, as well as Jewish, and Atheists.

Here is Jewish Harvard Professor who converted to Catholic thru the miracles of the Virgin Mary.

If that were true you will never be allowed to pray for anyone, not a wife, child, parent or friend for any reason whatsoever in direct contradiction of scripture.

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16, )

I may be wrong but I think she meant those who Catholics deem to be saints - not believers. A believer is a saint

When the bible mentions prayers of the Saints it is talking about us here on earth as we are considered saints by God. It also says our prayers are put into jars and go before Him continually saved for the right time God intercedes on our behalf.
