One sister of mine has some 'radical' religious beliefs, at least in my opinion. She believes since Catholics worship saints, then the 5th Commandment prevails... 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me' (saints) ....so thusly Catholics will never get into Heaven. Just wondering if that's a common belief or not. Please, no snark... I am only asking a question. Thank you.

Do they worship Saints or do they ask the Saints to intercede for them? There is a difference. By the way, the Bible teaches all Christians are saints.

You should pray only to God not Mary or anyone else the bible makes that clear. Also no one but God can absolve and forgive sins, not a priest or the pope, those are several things that are clear in the bible.😉

The Bible says that the Lord looks at the heart so in my very humble opinion, the prayers or methods of prayer do not matter if the person is truly worshipping God.

My view is that they worship the statues ( idols) . I have seen them place a wreath around the necks of these idols

I am a Catholic . We do not worship the saints . I have friends who say they pray to different saints in case God is busy .--lol to each their own--What does it hurt ? I hear all the time we worship Mary . Mary is important to us. We look at her as our mother--God is our father --We ask her to pray for us --you know talk to God as we would ask our mom to talk to our Dad . God is still God above us all . Let's just say he has helpers . Each of us are helpers when we feed the hungry -tend to the sick -show mercy to the contrite . There is only One God and there are no lesser children of God . Protestant or Catholic we all belong to him .

On the mount of olives Jesus showed us how to pray. He started out with My Father who art in heaven, and from then on every request was put before God our Father, NEVER before anyone else. If you seek to intimately know God you must address God period. And He does look at our hearts, it's like asking someone else what you should be asking the person the question was directed to. Does that help?

Not all Catholics are the same. Some don’t pray to anyone but God, others pray to Mary and treat others too as idols. Catholicism has other doctrine that isn’t biblical but not all Catholics buy into all Catholic doctrine.

No one can say whether a Catholic - or Protestant for that matter - will get to heaven because no one can see their heart.

Not a believer in heaven and hell. I do believe that holding the best amongst of us in high esteem as roll models is a good ideal

Who and what we hold in high esteem is the mark of the person.

So no, in my opinion, it is not a breaking of the 5th. to aspire to better.
