People, people, people.... Do some research about this time change, President Nixon signed into law in 1973 to do the same thing, abolish the DST. So it happened and the new law was quickly overturned.
Between December of 1973 and March of 1974, sometimes the sun did not rise until 8:00 and in some areas till 9:30
If my memory serves me correctly, the purpose of the DST was to ease the usage of heating in the winter months,
and of course the farmers concerns.
At the time, 79% of Americans wanted the DST to be gone. Until the first year it was in effect, then by March only a small amount still wanted it.
I am a senior citizen and my memory isn't what it used to be, but there may be something there worth looking into.
If this Senate mistake takes hold there will be a lot of chaos, as many countries are also on daylight savings time.

The one advantage is all the electronics now change our clocks for us.

Personally, it is good for us in places like Arizona. Although, the good thing now is we don't have to change clocks twice a year but have to remember that everyone else, including lots of tv programs all change. Have to continually think what the time difference is, or if there is a difference, all the time. For those reasons I'm for keeping it one or the other.
