And even if the "commander" is believed, it's not like Alqaida hasn't been trying since day one to capture Americans. That's what makes the entire argument about this prisoner exchange putting targets on the backs of our troops still there so ridiculous. Does anyone have any doubt that if Alqaida had the opportunity to capture American soldiers during these past 13 years, they would have? Give our soldiers some credit for being able to defend themselves. The vast majority of American casualties in Afghanistan were caused by IED's, not combat. Alquaida and others like them know that to engage our troops in combat amounts to suicide for them. Their ability to capture American soldiers is very limited.

It’s been less than a week, and already negative consequences are developing as a result of Obama’s negotiating with terrorists, releasing five leading Islamic terrorists for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

On Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz asked, “What does this tell terrorists, that if you capture a U.S. Soldier, you can trade that soldier for five terrorists?” “Have we just put a price on other U.S. soldiers?” Cruz asked on ABC’s “This Week.”

Cruz’s warnings are already proving to be prophetic, as the answer to both questions is already turning out to be “yes,” and “yes,” according to a new report from TIME:

A Taliban commander close to the negotiations over the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl told TIME Thursday that the deal made to secure Bergdahl’s release has made it more appealing for fighters to capture American soldiers and other high-value targets.

“It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people,” the commander said, speaking by telephone on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media. “It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.”
