I see you're brand new on OPP, and the people I wrote this topic about are rabidly aggressive socialists with a totally one-way attitude and no middle ground whatever. They will insult others and make up crazy lies about people whenever it suits them, so perhaps you can understand why I'm quick to respond to anything that sounds negative from someone who says they're a socialist.

Since you're new here, keep an eye out for Glaucon, Rumitoid, Btfkr (yeah, you read it right) and others who are the people I refer to. You may not want to find yourself in their camp.

I wonder, the US had a world class work ethic that began in WWII, so how did it degrade so bad after 3 generations? Did some parents relax some rules because it would be a little easier on their kids? Then the next generation relaxed a little more? Now we're to the point that a family is considered trailer trash, if their 5 year old - doesn't have a smartphone and/or tablet.

I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of this new's - but - the baby boomers are responsible for the shift back down the hill.

ipnmajor; your logic here escapes me. It is difficult to see how the most inventive, spirited generation(s) since the beginning of the industrial revolution invented the apathy, lethargy and almost total lack of curiosity that exists in the following generations. I would argue that those generations, through implementation and dependence on self-satisfying technology might have, just might have mind you, gotten themselves, and the rest of us along with them, into this mess...Thumbs seem to have replaced work and brains...if you get my drift...

Some of the Liberal Socialists on OPP are so slavish in their politics that they have no scruples at all about inventing insulting, spurious depictions of anyone who disagrees. They have the same mentality as soccer fans who riot when their team loses, mindlessly attacking, mob style, like a pack of dull witted animals.

These same people, mostly, are the ones who are on the public dole and fight against any perceived assault on their financial security. They have few if any morals and have no problem with lying and fraud if that might promote their continued welfare handouts.

Then there's those who have a position of authority, however minor, in maintaining and promoting the welfare state. The only difference with the first group is that these people are sucking much more money out of the system, so they're even more immoral and treacherous in their defense of the system.

Trying to talk sense to these leeches only threatens their sense of security and the only way to really deal with them is to allow the system to collapse. Those who've had a work ethic all this time will be far more prepared than the Socialist leeches, who will find themselves laying in gutters with their hands out for alms, as they starve to death.

Oh yeah, you're right. I should have declared my deepest love and admiration for all things Liberal and Socialist, instead. Shame on me. Giving money to our own people is liberal and socialist, giving money to people from other countries is conservative? Confusing, to say the least. Building roads, bridges, electrical power grids and such, in other countries, is that socialist, conservative or what? Few seem to complain about that.

So my question is, why are there only arguments about spending money on our own citizens, when we do the exact same thing on a larger scale else where? When did US citizens rate LOWER than people from third world countries? If only the same logic were used HERE that makes it ok to do it THERE, we wouldn't be arguing - would we. Most of this rhetoric was taught to us and many are too blind to see how they're being manipulated.
