We have heard a fair number of religiously inclined people make what I think is a good point, and it's about gays making such a big deal about being gay, how they want special privileges because they are.
I am of the opinion that they can keep their sexual preferences to themselves, nobody needs to know or be told they are gay unless their flaming personality makes it obvious.
Religion is the same, nobody needs to know, and there are no special privileges accorded with being so. You don't get to treat anyone including gays differently because of your personal religious beliefs.
People in general do not feel anything about a person's religion, unless perhaps it's christian's about muslims or vice a versa. People are not persecuting christians, they are persecuting racist misogynistic bigots who happen to be doing it in the name of religion, and that is giving christians an associated bad name.
This rhetoric that christians are being persecuted is wrong and it's dangerous to make people feel that they are being persecuted as a group.
