I'm a night creature due to the nature of my work.

I'm off duty and still find myself waking up in the wee hours.

OPP is often a good place to hang out when you're restless late at night.

No, you are not alone. I was born this way, my Grand used to tie a string on my ankle so I would not leave my room.
She told stories about finding me in the barn talking to the horses or in the kitchen fulfilling a sweet tooth.
So, she would tie the string on me and tell me that if I broke it then I would have bad dreams. No, she was not mean,
just worn out from sleepless nights. I do find that I can get a lot accomplished while the family is asleep.
How about you? Have you always required less sleep than others? Or is this a conditioning?

Never been much of a sleeper, but was hyper as a kid. Quit drinking 3 yrs ago and sleep is almost non-existant, don't know why. Don't want to take meds.

Reishi mushrooms, which have many other health benefits are touted as being sleep /stress regulators. Then there's valerian root. Im also a former drinker, liked a beer or 12. I pop up at 4 or 5 every day. Love it, have the house to myself for awhile.

Total insomnia some nights, on other nights two hours sleeping then two hours up reading, on and on. When I get tired enough I hit the pills before going to bed, Ambien and Gabapenten; then I get eight to ten hours straight sleep. What a difference in mental acuity. With constantly interrupted sleep I have the sensation of being in a dissociative fugue and any concentration requires maximum effort. After eight hours sleep, my memory returns, including all of those annoying Senior Moment items I couldn't remember in the previous weeks.

Once in a blue moon the pills don't work and then I am destroyed for several days, not being asleep or fully awake all day and night long. Getting old is a lot of fun!
