Well....yeah, most posters on OPP are on the conservative side of the political spectrum. And there is some propaganda here.

More importantly, for us 'commies' the site is a pretty direct window into the soul of right-wing thinking. Look at it this way: if you can make a sock puppet that would pass for a right winger, then the site will have educated you in how the right thinks. Well worth putting up with some of the more irrelevant stuff. OPP has made me even more sure that liberalism is a better way of seeing.

There is a lot of propaganda here and too much of it comes from the left leaners. I always have to wonder just what you of the left think propaganda is. How about you telling me what your definition of the word is. PLEASE.

I was always told by professors in the early 50s before the left took over those positions that propaganda is anything from absolute lies to absolute truth that is used to further an agenda. Does that not work for you of the left lean?

Have you and I ever disagreed on political points? If so, I don't remember it, so I guess God, Family and Country are the main things in our reasoning. It has always amazed me the way left leaners have come up so much against all those things. Of course, I leaned pretty far to the left till I learned from the 1972 Democrat National Convention that the left had taken over the Democrat Party. They left me at that time, not I left them, because they nominated an avowed socialist for President and haven't nominated even one that wasn't too left for me. If they had nominated Bernie last year instead of that "horrible woman" they would have done it again. However, both of them were too socialist for me.

Yep, you and I are very extreme because we believe in God and want him returned to our governmental belief. The Socialists have always believed in killing the Christian family and have been trying to use that to destroy our country.

My son's Great Dane who spends every evening at our house considers our sofa to be her bed and won't allow anyone else on it. She has always slept on the sofa in her house and my wife gave ours to her many years ago. I won't sit on the thing because the sheets that cover it to keep her hair from the sofa, itself, are covered with dog hair. I detest that hair so much that I bought a sign that reads, dog hair is an important part of our decor, so like it or stay out. It is unbelievable that a relatively short dog could lose that much hair.

From Dictionary.com:

noun
1. information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc.
2. the deliberate spreading of such information, rumors, etc.
3. the particular doctrines or principles propagated by an organization or movement.

Of course propaganda is used by both sides in practically every political discussion.

I disagree that most of the propaganda comes from the left. We are, after all, a minority in this forum. So how much is too much, especially if propaganda ranges from absolute truth to absolute lies? From that one could make the case that everything is propaganda.

PaulPisces gave a dictionary definition. I would add deliberate distortions of facts and ideology to denigrate those with whom one disagrees.

Large cities have a larger percentage of liberals than rural areas.
CNN, is not interested in providing truth, they're interested in how high their ratings are so they can charge advertisers more.

What is your problem today? This post and several others here sound like someone who didn't post the extreme liberal posts you used to post. I may be able to get along with you, since you seem to have changed.

Maybe you need to read complete sentences when you can. That sentence ended with the words, used to further an agenda. I am sure you could apply those words to the earlier ones about truth and lies.

I finally read Paul's definition from the dictionary and noticed that you failed to see that the lies are used to denigrate people from the other side. Maybe if you could read all of what I say you could see that my definition is very much like his.

I haven't changed.
I still know that it wasn't Arabs who took down those towers on 9/11.

Well, WCS, you are one of the more reasonable 'commies' around here I must say. But, you have to admit that there are 'extremists' on both sides here. There are probably more righties on this site than lefties, but that is nobody's fault but the lefties for not hanging around because we won't take their abuse.

I thought you people were only involved in what we used to call self abuse.

A good test to find out if you are a right wing mental case is to answer the following questions: Do you now or have you ever believed Obama was other than an American citizen? Do you now or have you ever believed Obama is a Muslim? Do you now believe that Trump is a pathological liar? Do you now or have you ever believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction that threatened America? Are you able to list three or more major positive things Obama did for America during the two terms we voted him into office? Are you able to understand that Pence is no more desirable than Trump and neither is more desirable than a heart attack or cancer? If you were able to answer yes to all questions you are a certified right wing extremist or a Nazi. If you were not able to answer no to more than three of them, you are merely misinformed.

How much government oppression do you really deal with?

A lot. An awful lot. You have no idea just how much government oppression is seen in our daily lives because you do not notice it. It's a lot.

Dummy Boy wrote:
Is it a concept you just discovered? What exactly do you mean by oppression?

No. I've been screaming about it for many years. Oppression is 'prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control'.

Dummy Boy wrote:
Do you really believe that you are uniquely oppressed by the government?

Oh, no. There are millions of us. Even you, too, but you just don't know it.

Dummy Boy wrote:
Did you get a DUI?

No.

Dummy Boy wrote:
Do you walk around town calling people names?

Depends. Are they being dumbasses? Normally I don't bother, but sometimes I just can't resist...

Dummy Boy wrote:
Do you avoid paying taxes, but love having roads and fire and police services?

Taxes don't pay for roads, fire and police services. Taxes pay the interest on the debt to the Federal Reserve System. Currency inflation pays for roads, fire and police services.

Good observation. I would go further and say probably all of them recognize the powers delegated by the people to the State governments.

Oh, you mean like the old lady who 'thinks' she can parallel park? Or the guy who just can't remember his PIN number at the checkout? Competent. Right.

Dummy Boy wrote:
or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen;

I see. When was the last time you wrote to your Congressman and got a letter back that wasn't some standard, boilerplate reply he sends to everyone? As for 'freely and equally chosen', not for a century or more.

Dummy Boy wrote:
that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed;

'Gun-free' zones, anyone? If it is our "right and duty to be at all times armed", why then are we scanned at the courthouse? Why are we strip-searched before getting on a commercial aircraft? Why are my children left vulnerable to mass murder in the school system? "Right and duty" my ass. Don't even start me on the convoluted process of buying a firearm. I picked one up at WalMart years ago. The counter employee actually escorted me out of the store before handing it to me. It felt like I was being 'perp-walked'. Like I was some dangerous criminal.

Dummy Boy wrote:
that they are entitled to freedom of person,

Oh, puhleeeze! Illegal searches and seizures are routine all over the country. Have you not heard of the 'stop and frisk' activities in New York City? Just stop somebody in the street and pat them down. No rhyme, no reason, just felt like it.

Dummy Boy wrote:
freedom of religion,

Oh, sure, just pick a religion. Didn't work out too well for the Branch Davidians in Waco did it? Then again, as long as it's Islam, the 'religion of peace', you should be OK.

Dummy Boy wrote:
freedom of property,

Civil forfeiture, anyone? Prohibition, anyone? Property taxes (government rent payments), anyone?

Dummy Boy wrote:

A free national press that's owned by what, five people in total? And a few of them are foreigners. Yeah, free to advance the agenda of their buddies in Congress. For a 'small' consideration, of course.

Thomas Jefferson would be horrified to see what we tolerate today. Take a look at the list of grievances included in the Declaration of Independence (that he wrote, by the way) and see how many we suffer with to this day.

I agree good Ol Tom J. would be horrified, but what does prohibition have to do with property?

Look up the word in the dictionary. The closest you ever go to "professor is when you might have been in the same state with one. Not may "professors" in your trailer park. I use the dictionary very often and I think you might also find it useful. You need to get a dictionary of your own. I won't look it up for you because I know what the word means and if I looked it up for you, I would be making you even more dependent.

Interesting post & reply's from all involved... I think it's more like 85/15 myself right to left with maybe 10% of the right being extreme & a small minority of the left... I really don't consider public people programs as socialism in the traditional communist platform... America has evolved over time giving too much power to oligarchs who abuse this power for personal gain at the expense of all Americans as a Nation of people... I have no axe to grind here being an Independent... this is the way I see things here on OPP...
