I have read/heard, and I tend to believe the stories, that the WalMart label changed upon the death (in 1992) of its founder, Sam Walton. His kids/family went for the quickest/biggest bucks to be made.

You know, I make rustic Adirondack furniture and frames ect and even I have to compete with that crap, and it is. They even make resin frames to to look like birch bark and sticks. And of course its dirt cheap. Tourists just love this stuff. I should get some of those stickers for my products. I'm not huge, but it would be a statement.

I have four beautiful adirindack chairs all real wood and years old but still look brand new!!

Out of the woods~ you really should seriously consider putting it in your pieces...And the very best of luck to you in your business.. You don't need to be big to be good!!!

I would definitely put, Made in America, on them!!! You would have a buyer right here!!! And put it in a window for others to see as they went..

I bet your pieces are beautiful!!! I love real wood anything and that's all I own..

Woke at 2:30 am to basement swimming in water covered my feet in some areas... waiting on Servpro and my insurance adjuster now... Anyway, my point is wood furniture did better than any of the pressed board stuff...

Spent all early am getting it out so it doesn't get damaged...

As if malls didn’t have enough problems, count one more: retailers looking to slash the duration of their leases.

After more than a dozen bankruptcies this year contributed to thousands of store closures, visibility for the industry is so poor that retailers are pushing for lease renewals as short as a year or two — down from five to 10 years.

“You’re certainly seeing the renewals geared toward the shorter term, rather than the five-year renewal,” said Andrew Graiser, head of A&G Realty Partners. Retailers are now struggling to figure out how many stores they actually need, he added, and landlords are looking at them “with a much closer eye than they did before.”

Somewhere between 9,000 and 10,000 stores will close in the U.S. this year, said Garrick Brown, vice president of Americas retail research for commercial broker Cushman & Wakefield — more than twice as many as the 4,000 last year. He sees this figure rising to about 13,000 next year.

“Everyone’s trying to figure out where the bottom of the market’s going to be,” Brown said. He estimates it could occur in 2018 or early 2019.

Hard to argue that, BB, but Sam Walton did okay for himself and his company by doing it the real American way...by providing demand for manufacturing jobs to take care of American workers. Since his death, much of the family business is now linked to overseas operations that provide cheaper wages to non-Americans producing lesser quality goods.

This was on my mind today, due to another thread called "walmart hates me" Well this is not funny, I really hate Walmart.
I'm a capitalist, not a snob, but I hate going there, it represents much of what is wrong with America. How does a bunch
of junk become better just because there's alot of it. I mean I won't buy s. ocks there, as all the clothes are pretty much disposable.
The food is of questionable origen and freshness. The "value packs" are of quantities that only an overeater could love and
a stroll or should I say , trying to sqeeze through the aisles is dangerous as whole overfed foodstamp families may crush you.
On top of that they never have enough registers open and the few harried employees are unble to help. It is a giant stuffmart
made to satisfy a compulsion to have, more, more, more. And it all ends up in the trash. Anyone here love Walmart?
Then there is the fact that all the good local shops can't compeat and are gone. And the bathrooms are gross.

Here is why I hate Wal Mart. My wife worked there for 12 years. She was a manager and according to all her employee of the month awards she was a good one. First when you receive what use to be an award you now receive a piece of paper but as always so WalMart can save money only the first 3 letters of your last name appear on the piece of black and white paper. One day one of those Wan bat ,or what ever you call those wastes of dirt Muslims came into the store to get his 12 donuts for $2.50. He would then sell them for a dollar a piece on his catering truck He was the typical dirty wipe his butt with his bare hand Muslims and was left handed He didn't get his donuts because there were none that was what my wife told him.

Being a typical Muslim he raised holy hell including pushing a shopping cart into my wife. After taking more abuse than I would she made a call for help to the cowardly store manager who must of gotten out of sight under the women's tampons or in one of their bathroom stalls all nerves chewing on a urinal cake. Anyway the Muslim homosexual called the corporate office and told them my wife hit him. Without asking for my wife's side of the story they fired her after 12 of service. To show just how low these owners of Wally World are she still got full benefits on her unemployment, something a person fired never gets. The shit infested Muslim I was an hour late for work for 2 weeks waiting in that WalMart parking lot with my jar of pickled pig's feet. Who knows one day he might pull into my job sight and since they are all the same I'll do em all till I get the right one.

Every American should always keep in the ready a jar of pickled pig's feet to desecrate Muslims. I hear you can even keep a full 30 round jar in your glove box in California.Remember a chicken in every woman's pot and a pig's foot up every Muslim butt.

I can't stand the malls.. They all get together and then "fix the price"between them even when they have sales..

Much prefer stand alone stores, Kohl, Macy's, 21,BB and B, etc..

Malls are getting hit hard with online shopping becoming the new trend.. online orders are soaring...

Amazon growth alone staggering..
the wave coming up again s not Malls..
Although when I go for clothes, fit, appearance I prefer an actual store to sho in ..
