Next time you go to Palm Springs take the aerial tram to the top of Mt San Jacinto, last time I was there it was 90* at the bottom, I was iin flip flops and shorts, when I got on the tram the guys told me I better get some thing warmer, I laughed and said I'll be ok, he shook his head. AS I disembarked at the top, he said Ill see you when I come back up, he was right. There I was standing in shorts and flip flops in a blizzard, that was the longest half hour!

I learned something!! I honestly did not know they ever sold made in America.. Then again I don't shop in them... If I had, I would have shopped them ...

You can't hardly find, made in America anymore...I've even suggested it to different stores... You know those questionares for rating service etc, well in the comment section I'll put " how about made in America merchandise?"

Does no good but I feel better in asking..

That sounds about the right timing...late 80s early 90s i was fairly lucid mid 80s....forget about it!

I don't have a choice. I have to shop there. Not only is it the only place that is easily accessible, it's also the cheapest, and I'm on a fixed income. When money is really tight, I can get a 14oz loaf of French or Italian bread and a package of lunchmeat for two bucks, and it really fills me up.

When I was working I would have steak on a regular basis and now that I am on social security i rarely have it and it is a treat for sure. Bread and butter and lunch meat are staples until summer and then I can get sweet corn and fresh tomatoes and make BLT's corn on the cob with sliced tomatoes and then I make hamburgers on the grill and to p them with a nice slice of tomato about an 1/8 to 1/4 thick with a little salt and pepper and you got a fine meal.

I've learned an awful lot about eating cheap. Peanut butter is my best friend. That and a couple of loaves of bread go a long way. I've also found several good recipes using ramen noodles. There are also many different ways to make potatoes. I love making homemade potato chips in the deep fryer. Add a little sea salt and enjoy.

Some of the things that I enjoy and they may sound weird are the following. Macaroni and cheese with bread and butter and strawberry jam. I don't know what makes that work but is delicious together. Egg salad sandwiches and green olives are another combination. Any sandwich with ham or beef or and type of lunch meat and a fresh tomato. Hot dogs are good quick lunch as well. Hamburgers and or that sloppy joe mix for 'sloppy joe's. Tuna salad sandwiches with sweet pickles is another. And then there is always the good can of soup.

You eat canned soup? You're a culinary heathen! Get thyself a crockpot, my son, and maketh thou thine OWN soup. It's cheaper and taste better. It's also better for you.

I know it is and I love bean soup with a lot of ham in it. The trouble is since mama passed away I never go out and buy things lijke a ham or a turkey and anything like that because living alone it takes forever and a day to eat the left overs and by then I don't even want to look at it again for a year. Whenever I cook a roast and carrots and potatoes it lasts me three nights of the one roast. When I get a hankering for pork ribs and kraut I again end of with three days of food. Hell a turkey or a ham and I would have leftovers for a month or more. A can of soup is OK qnd my daughter is a great cook and she gives me leftovers every once in awhile and she makes great soup. I am usually over there for the holidays like Christmas, Easter, and thanksgiving and we usually have a fish fry in the summer time and that is who I get tomatoes from. I live in the country area and that makes getting sweet corn real easy as well. Moey of my meals are very simple though and they are what I like and I don't have to fuss to much.

Looks good I will have to try that. My daughter makes a turkey pot pie that is delicious. We also get together once a year and make spaghetti sauce. After we make up a good meat sauce we cook the pasta and put the garlic bread in the oven and grate up a lot of mozzarella cheese after the garlic bread is cooked and the angel hair pasta is done we place the angel hair pasta on our plates and cover with shredded mozzarella cheese and then cover with hot sauce and then cover that with fresh grated parmesan cheese. Grab some garlic bread and enjoy.

You have certainly earned the right to eat whatever you like.
Couple things I would be really careful of:
Don't get careless with leftovers. Can't have you getting food poisoning. If in doubt, chuck it.
Also in your moving around. Think about who is going to help you if you fall. If you don't have one of those help lines, suggest you do.
Do you have someone to do check-ins with you?
Can you see assisted living in your life?
Another thought. Fortunately wife and I are still together and doing pretty well. Meals provided, telephone, cleaning of the apt once a week movies, bingo, 2 attendants on call 24/7 within reach of the call button.Though we hated to, we sold the home because we couldn't keep it going ourselves. Also the house was not equipped for people perhaps needing help walking. Shower and laundry were in the basement so no sense in investing money to up-grade to accommodate two oldsters so we sold it and moved out.
Anyway, I am not trying to be bossy just letting you know we do care.
Hang tough. If you need a bit of bs,send me a personal message.
