Yes, some of Islam's more primitive instincts, which exactly mirror Christianity's practices of 500-600 years ago, are to be condemned. But can we condemn Christianity for IT'S burnings, beheadings, slavery, and torture in days gone by? The practices you mention by no means characterize Islam as a whole.
The problem with the Muslim religion is that it encompasses everything. Such as religion and government. Also most of us do not want to return to the values and lifestyle of 500-600 years ago. Civilazation has moved forward but the Muslims still insist on living in a world that never evolves. For example, when I was young, people dressed up to go yo church and even to fly on an airplane. Now, people wear flip flops, shorts and a tee shirt. The Muslims still insist that their women dress up as lamp shades.
