I did start from a base of total ignorance. Am I to assume you were born knowing everything? Unbelievable ignorance being a concept foreign to me, but not to you.

I saw so little in that article other than an attack of O'Reilly and how his show is run. I don't think I gained anything there but I did read the thing in a quick run through type of reading that I usually reserve for Salon and others of the left lean blogs. Maybe I just went too fast.
I didn't realize that Bill O'Reilly speaks on TV specifically in line with what will raise his Nielsen ratings. That is really amazing. I would really like to hear what sort of phrases are"in" and which are "out." Can you imagine Bill explaining how that works?
That is only one of a dozen things, I wasn't aware of when I read the article.

Dave, you are stupid.
The observations of the writer were that titles don't matter in a conservative business model, generating revenue does. Nielsen ratings determine advertising prices that is how Fox news makes money. The concern of those with, I believe he called it "juice," is making money for the company. The conservative business model's bottom line is money. Why does anyone work, except to make money.
I gained information from the article. And I think you are too stupid to glean information from the article.

Alright. Educate me. Why do I have no right to call anyone else "stupid."

I actually have a different email for the liberal stuff. I can't wake to that BS in my default.

The use of "stupid" in an argument is a display of power, not an argument, and it shuts down the possibility of meaningful exchange. Not to mention, it's stupid to use the term.

Dave's comment was intended to shut me down. Read his comment. What I was responding to. If you or anyone else wants to challenge my comments and decides to attempt a forced shut down of me stating my position, I will challenge you or them and stand my ground. It is not only my right, but my prerogative.
Do you think I have no right to respond in like kind to a comment directed at me?
If Dave wishes to go down that path in his comment, it is his offence that should be condemned. That you choose to ignore his offence and address mine is your choice. You have the right to side with him. But I will defend my comments.
Augustus: I read almost all posts, I do not need to re-read very often. However, I did as you asked, and in the first sentence of your response, you agreed with him. Perhaps you may be able to read it again, and explain it more clearly to me. In fact don't bother, just stop the name calling, and sort your $hit.

I agreed with Terbreugghen, yes, to a point. Did you notice the point at which I diverged from his opining?
Now if you wish not to appear the blundering hypocrite, you are going about it poorly.
You stated I have no right to "shut down discussion" (according to Terbreugghen.)
Now exam your comments. Ask yourself: What is my objective in my comments?
I think you will find it is to stop me from expressing my position. If you examine Dave's comments, they are to the same effect.
You may not understand my comments or agree with them, but according you, you do not have the right to write what you wrote.
You know I don't give a rat's ass what any of you think of me or what I say. What I don't understand is why all the whining over name calling, I think it spices things up a bit.
Some of you seem a little thin skinned and seem to have your feelings easily hurt. As I have said, I came from another site that I believe was shut down, and a lot of you on this site (not all) would have wimped out. I say in you can dish it out, then be able to take it. If you don't like such things as personal attacks and name calling don't do it, be as polite as you want or as nasty as you want.
If you are a Marxist or one of its cousins you are fair game to whatever I feel will offend you. You are my enemy, the enemy of my country, my Constitution, and my way of life. I resent you and all you stand for. So all you pantie waist democrats out there beware, I may take cheap shots at you and enjoy doing so.
Don't really know why I wrote this, however it may stir the pot a bit and we'll see what bubbles up. After all, this is a political site and politics is not bean bag. Right?
I'm really enjoying this thread.

I don't have any problem with shutting down a discussion. Everyone has the power to do so. But it should be clear that after the namecallling, further exchange is usually just a pointless display of power, rarely having any meaningful or useful content. We ALL have the "right" and power to write what we want, as long as this is still America (or whatever free plot of earth you're writing from) But if meaningful exchange is the goal, namecalling prevents the possibility of that exchange.

Terbreugghen,
That makes sense. The goal Dave had was to claim there was no information to be gained by the article and stop the discussion, but I am too stupid to realize it.
That makes a great deal of sense. Thank you.
