Had a neighbor with a cat, but when mice would appear he found he had to stop feeding his cat before the cat would go after the mice... Seems there is no instinct for cats to go after mice...

The cat was probably not used to having to work for his dinner.
Then again, maybe some cats have been bred through the years to be great mousers.
I have one cat in and one out. No rodents around.

My last cat would hang out with my Golden retrievers and when I got the charcoal grill going Saturday evening she would go hunting. By the time the grill was ready the cats would be up the hill by the garden giving a deep " yowling" sound. The dogs would look, I'd say "fetch" and the next minute I'd have a fresh rabbit to put on the grill.
We had Fox, coyote, coons and etc., and my cat NEVER had a problem. It's the damn city folk moving into the woods that expect wild life to be " Fair and civilized". Of course they're ALL democrats.!

It was awesome, cat gets rabbit, brings it to the dogs, dogs bring it to me, I gut and skin it now rinse it under the faucet, salt and pepper and on the grill. Fresh cooney. Can't have a better or more efficient pack of critters than that. And this happened quite a few times every year for many years.

When I find a dead cat in my yard, I always bag and tag it and file it in the trash to never be seen again, like Obama did with his records.

Long story short.....came home as I had a dental appt, let the dogs out while i jumped in the shower and did the pre visit double flossing and crap....went to let the dogs in and noticed copious amounts of blood covering the front end of my large dog...My Dog!...went to freaking out to see what happened. ..cactus get her? Something stupid going all crack head after a squirrel?....cleaned her up and found no wounds...hmmmmmmm, went out back to find the issue, thats when i found the crime scene. ...1 half of a cat

I have seen this cat, it hangs out near the corner house that had new neighbors move in a couple months back ....sooooooooo, i scooped up and bagged the remains like a good guy and went to see if this was theirs, i didn't want them putting up signs and looking for this cat....so i did what i thought was the right thing....NOT!! This quickly escalated into a huge debacle and shouting fest that was close to coming to blows, it probably would have if not for our local finest in blue showing up from another neighbors complaint.....geeeez, after the cops played CSI and checked out the crime scene to determine the cat was in my back yard and on my property they quickly informed the new neighbors i was not at fault. ...they were, city regs do not allow cats to roam free in my city and informed them they can be fined by animal control. ...which just happened to show up.......bummer, now these people were demanding i replace this high dollar cat......of course my reponse was...that ain't happening!

I have a feeling my new neighbors will not be inviting me over for Sunday BBQs........the male has threatened litigation in small claims ct.
