Prayer for 11/3/15

A Shared Warning

This morning I was contemplating a prayer, and didn't know where to start or what to write so I looked over notes that I keep. These words have been haunting me for sometime "What am I made of? What is my purpose?" Words to that effect probably cross your mind as well. You read about horrible deaths of Middle East Christians, do you wonder if you can be as stoic, as strong? The days are coming when it will not be easy, be strong, encourage one and other, stand on your conviction.

Do not be fooled, hold on to your faith always, as it is your lifeline to heaven. Someone will always be busy trying to sow seeds of doubt. The non-believer finds it easy to take, out of context, verses from the Bible, but when you read the entire paragraph the message becomes clear. Do not let one who is blinded mislead you, pray for them. Isaiah 44:18 tells us, "They do not know, nor do they understand, for He has smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they cannot comprehend."

Times are approaching that make it imperative to know the Word. Trust that Satan has it down pat, and with it he fooled Eve. Do not be ignorant, when confronted by one who appears adamant and ever versed in the Word, trust that small voice, within your heart, that gives you a sense they are compounding fact with fiction. These words from Matthew 13:14 apply to them "In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; You will be ever seeing, but never perceiving."

A reference Bible takes you back and forth to justify the words you read. My hope rests in these words from James 5:20, words worth remembering, "Recognize that whoever brings a sinner back from the wrong path will save them from death and will bring about the forgiveness of many sins." Knowing that I am a sinner, and it is impossible for me to do for my Lord, God, than I look for ways to at least wash away a multitude of sin whenever possible. Praise the Lord that He is a forgiving, loving God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Amen and Amen, There are many here on OPP that have bible versus that they pull out all of the time but as you say they don't have any understanding and you can see that Satan is using them to deceive many.

Verse of the Day for Wednesday November 4th, 2015:

But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. — Deuteronomy 8:18

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

As we enter the month often associated with giving thanks, this reminder from Moses is an important one! We so easily forget to give thanks when things are going well. It's easy for us to whine and ask God to help us when we are in trouble, but we often feel like we "deserve" the good things that happen to us. God reminds us that what we have is simply a confirmation of his grace and his faithfulness to do what he has said. We need to remind ourselves, and each other, that the blessings we have come from his hand and not because we deserved them more than someone else.

My Prayer...

Generous Father, forgive me for my forgetfulness. Deep down I know I don't deserve all the good things you have poured into my life, yet I sometimes find myself thinking that I've earned them. Use your Spirit to forge in me a heart like Jesus, who did deserve everything good and yet gave it all up to come to earth and give me the greatest gift imaginable — the gift of your salvation! Thank you so much for this gift of grace and the many other undeserved gifts that you have lavished on me. In Jesus' name I thank you. Amen.

Prayer for 11/4/15

Heavenly beauty and protection

What a beautiful bright light greeted Bear and me, as we stepped out on the deck this morning. The morning star hung low in the eastern sky, some distance above it was another, lesser star, and quite a way above that was the waxing moon. Off to the north was the Big Dipper. Pleiades is more overhead, in the southern sky, with Orion just below to its right. Millions of stars, and our God has named each one. He has placed them there as our night light, and for our appreciation of all the beauty He lays out before us.

During the day, somewhere near, we can find a wooded park, to wander through on the trails. What a blessing when we are able to look at the Lord's handiwork with wonder and appreciation. Or walk a mountain trail, and gaze off at the expansive horizon. Imagine what the first settlers saw, eyes gleaming with awe, hearts beating with anticipation, and some trepidation. All the while, the Lord led them on. He filled His world with exciting beauty that we may see in pictures, or visit in person, and store in our memories.

Each day, we look forward to whatever it may hold for us. Not every day is filled with joy, beauty, and sunshine, but when we invite Him in, that day is filled with the sense of security that His presence imparts. He sends us a guardian angel, who watches over us and keeps us safe from harm. Yesterday, I fell, but with His protection, I came through it with some bruises, nothing broken. How can I express my appreciation for all the love and care that He showers on me! My heart praises Him, thank You, Lord.

We pray in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen

Verse of the Day for Wednesday November 4th, 2015:... (show quote)

Yesterday, I started the day by thanking the Lord for finding me a parking place - something simple, but appreciated. Later that day, I was very thankful that nothing was broken when I fell. He fills all our needs, and minor wants (a parking place), and I keep busy being grateful, and so appreciative, and particularly thankful for His presence and protection.

Amen

Verse of the Day for Thursday November 5th, 2015:

Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord. — Acts 15:35

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

Antioch was a great church in the first century. This church was blessed with both Jewish and Gentile disciples of Jesus who were very talented. These disciples were the first followers of Jesus called Christians. Many of these new Christians taught and evangelized others in their community. These "many others" remind us that the power of the early Church was not limited to its well-known leaders, but also involved the widespread dedication of its members to minister and to use the gifts that God had given them to serve others.

My Prayer...

Almighty and powerful God, please raise up an army of committed people who will serve, pray, evangelize, and teach so that others may know the grace you have given us in your Son Jesus. Renew the power of everyday Christians in our day just as it was in the early Church! I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, my Savior and Lord. Amen.
