Another excellent selection. About a month ago I was thing about universal motifs in poetry, literature and music. I began setting my thoughts down in an essay. I kept remembering other archtypes but I had completely forgotten Zorba the Greek. Nothing else evokes the idea of the Greek spirit as well and I will be incorporating in whatever direction my essay takes. Thank you for the reminder.

Your Welcome... So right you are!! I found in general the Greeks have that strong family value that seems almost automatic and they love to show it!!

Opiniated they are as well but in a joking way although they mean what they say..

Anyway, glad you liked it, I like your idea!!!

Reread my post and realized I shouldn't type late at night when I am tired. I think you got the gist of what I meant but here is a clarification "I was thinking about universal motifs in poetry' and "I will be incorporating the Greek motif in whatever direction my essay takes".

That taken care of, here is something which might amuse you. The singing of Sopranos has often been described as a cat screeching in the night. Gioachino Antonio Rossini was of the same mind because he wrote "The Cats Duet for Sopranos". The links below are all for the same piece, just different sets of Sopranos.

This one is amazing, the timbre of the Duduk was unbelievable, I have never heard such deep, sonorous, tones coming from something that is essentially a flute. I expected tootlings and tweetlings but instead got Bassoon tones. I had to look it up "The duduk (doo-dook) is an ancient double-reed woodwind flute made of apricot wood." It defies the mathematics that govern tonal range for musical instruments. I want one!

'Good' music is salve for the soul, but first, you gotta have a soul. Play Beethoven's sixth "pastoral" or that final movement of his ninth and last symphony. If that does not give you the least bit of 'soul' then you are really lost....
