Sargeant, I don't know what excites my sympathy more, the wounds our military come home with or the knowledge of what crap they had to eat while getting those wounds. I have often thought that the punishment should fit the crime, replace all the food in the dining rooms of the congressmen and the producers of that swill with what they send to our military. And then send a BAR squad to make sure they eat there daily.

Hey that's a very good idea. Give McCain a double portion of ham and motherf*ckers.

would you count Okinawa???

Hell no, was anyone shooting at you in Okinawa? Anyone lobbing mortars and rockets at you? NO! I always had a good time when in Okinawa. All Marines rotated in and out of Nam through Okinawa, usually 2 or 3 days. I got so drunk in Okinawa once that I woke up in a ditch not knowing where the hell I was. That was when I was rotating back to the states after my first tour. I admit you could have a hellofa good time in Oki. Doing 2 tours in Nam I visited Okinawa 4 times. Was pretty sedate when going to Nam but was all out crazy when rotating back to the States.

shoulda joined the Navy
we have toilets in our heads

Hey Bobby, you do know that Marines have toilets in their heads too don't you. We just don't have them out in the bush. ha ha. I'm glad as hell that I didn't join the Navy, I'm the most seasick Marine you ever saw. Every time I was on a ship I was seasick as hell the whole time. You squids know how to make it worse for a seasick Marine too and you're very good at it. I have a lot of respect for you Navy guys though, corpsmen were the best guys ever. I also have to send my respect and admiration for all you squids that served on carriers and those ships that have BIG guns like destroyers and especially battleships like the USS New Jersey. We could actually hear their shells when they flew over us at the gooks. Sounded like a freakin train flying overhead. BADASS that's for damn sure. I was really glad they were out there and that they were on our side.
Semper Fidelis buddy.

when I was at Okinawa Sge
the Japs were in command
at least for awhile
shooting at me personally
I don't know
but it do seem to me that something like that was going on
I was on the troop transport the U.S.S.Hocking
I took the forces into the beach in a landing craft
made three trips
was later transferred to the U.S.S Senaca (a yard tug boat)
Saw the Battleship Philadelphia take three kamikazi hits
saw the U.S.S. Tigongeroga take a kamikazi in her sleeping quarters
I still had hot meals three times a day

Wow Bobby, you're a REAL old timer. Glad to hear that you made it through. The fight for Okinawa during WWII was a damn hard fight. I'm sincerely impressed. God bless you Sir.
