The problem is that you think rioting is going on. There's no rioting. If you are referring to the days immediately after the election, I said then that folks breaking the law should be held accountable. However, the right wants to paint a picture of America in flames when in reality, life is pretty normal in the country. There are not even that many protests going on, much less rioting.

What I don't understand LJ is guys like stiff actually think these lefty morons have his best interests at heart. What in the hell did the Obama administration do for the working man the last eight years? Let's see; let in millions of low skilled workers too depress wages and take finite resources from our schools and hospitals. They did up gang membership. They did grow part-time jobs to a new high. Put more people on SS disability and food stamps then ever before. Completely screwed up health care, unless of course you don't work and you don't mind me and others paying for your care. Their greatest achievement; First time in modern history we had eight years where small business failures out paced small business startups. Just one thing...2016 elections are not the final word of the people. They will speak again in '18 and '20. It's an ongoing dialogue. So while the people may have given Mr. Trump a chance to run the Presidency, the verdict is still open to judgement. This isn't a 'sudden death OT' victory...

In my opinion the left thought that with the election they were going to take the country to complete socialism.When they lost it just destroyed their belief that this country was ready for socialism/communism.

Of course 2016 is not the final word. If Trump doesn't at least try to do the things he ran on I will be the first to out him. So far I am pleasantly surprised. I too could not stand Obama from the days he was a no account Senator to his last days. Never once did I consider rioting or destroying anything. I attended many Tea Party rallies. No violence, no death threats. More like a church meeting than anything. Didn't need a safe space and would have never ever thought of shutting down free speech at colleges or town halls.

Obama deported more illegal aliens than any of his predecessors.There are fewer illegal aliens here now than when he came into office as there has been a net outmigration. American workers have been competing with low wage immigrants since the 1950s and it was no worse under Obama. But the right also has us competing with low wage workers all around the world as capital has flown to China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and various other countries. Free trade is (or was until Mr. Trump protested) a bedrock of conservative thinking and Nafta and the TPP were all pushed by Republicans. So forgive me if I don't buy the 'conservatives are looking out for the working guy' narrative

I also remember the bang up job on the economy the last right leaner (thank you oldroy) did. No help for the working class there. Fact is, working Americans have not shared in the nations increased wealth since the 1970s. That's where our real wages are stuck. The 'great recession' is also the reason for the increase in social welfare spending.

As for screwing up health care...yeah, I'm sure some folks did get screwed. It would have been cheaper and less complicated in the long run to just go to single payer. Instead we built a frankenstein trying to please everyone, and that includes insurance companies. You know, those companies paying their execs multi-million dollar bonuses while crying that the ACA is bankrupting them.
