You're the fool, you don't even understand the deal and you're saying it's bad, when in reality it is a great deal. Unless you live in the state of Indiana, not a penny of your tax dollars will be included in that $7 million, which is paid over 10 years, meaning only $700,000.00 a year, and it is incentivized, meaning Carrier has to meet certain goals of job creation each year to get the tax break each year, and in the meantime Carrier is going to spend from $16 million to $22 million to upgrade it's facilities, in order to increase manufacturing at the plant, which more jobs will be needed at the plant to produce more. Any state would give anything to make a deal like that, because usually deals like that cost the states much, much more, and if you were informed on the subject and matter, you would know this. It's not costing anyone anything who doesn't live in the state of Indiana, in other words no federal monies, and Indiana knows it will make much more back in income taxes and property taxes, than the $10 million tax break over 10 years that they are giving out, and they'll make it back in only 4 years if their estimates are correct.

In exchange for not outsourcing a few jobs, United Technology which made a profit of over $7.6 billion last year and owns Carrier, will receive more than $7 million! Along with lower tax burden and regulations!

So you are ignoring the other 1300 Carrier jobs in Indiana that are being moved to Mexico, just like Trump is!

The typical liberal argument for this is that jobs overseas help keep the costs of goods down.

Truth is that companies overseas do not have the overhead burdens their counterparts in the US carry, hence imported goods are cheaper. The US not only has the highest corporate tax rate in the world (40% on average) but it also has the most heavily regulated industries in the world:

And:

https://www.google.com/search?q=list+of+us+industrial+regulations&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Even the great American worker, easily as productive as any of his overseas counterparts, is severely hobbled by the environment in which he is forced to operate. Paying taxes at every stage of production (sometimes multiple taxes at the same stage) and complying with millions of pages of regulations is not only costly but time consuming.

Taking all this into consideration, is it any wonder that imports are cheaper than domestic products?

I agree, you may or may not have misunderstood me. I was just saying that is 'their argument.' It is not a good one.

So are you saying 800 is less than zero? What is your point? Whether Trump is being honest or not remains to be seen. If he is really trying to do what he says he is doing remains to be seen. I am not a Trump lover, (except when you compare him to Hillary) it remains to be seen which side he is really on, and I can guarantee you, once he realizes who really controls power in this country and in the world, he will do the same things, pretty much, that Clinton would have done. When Jimmy Carter left Camp David, (I think it was) he was in tears and went into this big thing about how the nation needed to repent. Why? Because at that point he learned who really controls this country and this world and it wasn't him. The same thing happened to Reagan, and will happen to Trump. It is doubtful anything will really change, but what people love is an attempt to make things change.

Also, I would recommend you put out here worthy news sources instead of these ridiculous nonsense magazines you quote.

No, I haven't forgotten anything, I'm just thankful for the 1,100 plus jobs that were saved, and hope when the $16 million to $22 million remodeling and upgrading of the factory, for more production, is done, it will result in the rehiring of most of those 1,300 jobs that are being lost.

But all this was announced 1 1/2 years ago, and Obama did nothing as President, and as Donald Trump promised he would do, negotiated for jobs to stay as just our President-Elect, and I look forward in the future for a high tariff to be put on all those A/Cs that Carrier produces in Mexico, and ships to the USA.

We've lost 5 million manufacturing jobs just since Obama became President, and Obama claims to have created 805,000 new manufacturing jobs, but I would like a head count of all those jobs and the factories where they are, as we know the head count of the ones that Trump and Pence just saved, and the factory they're at too.

I'm tired of Obama's BS numbers that are only estimated, and none are head counts, because the 'US Workforce' (working aged Americans of 16 to 54 years of age) participation rate is only in the 61 percentile, lowest participation rate in the last 40 years, while 38% plus Americans of working age are unemployed for one reason or another, yet Obama says the unemployment rate is as low as 4.8%, how can that be possible? It's possible only because of the BS estimated numbers that Obama constantly rigs to make himself look much better than he actually is, and that's a fact.

The American people know that they've been constantly lied to by Obama and the Democrats, about most everything, especially Obama's BS rigged numbers, and that is why Donald Trump is our President-Elect, and is doing a great job even before being sworn in as President, while Obama sits on his ass and does nothing, but has taken extremely expensive luxury vacations, and plays hundreds of golf games that costs the American taxpayers up to a million dollars a game, as the one he played with Tiger Woods cost nearly double that amount.

And that's just the beginning.

He's proposing that same plan for all American businesses.

Put away your tissues, your going to need a beach towel to wipe away your tears, once you finally understand what's coming.

Your unrealistic, communist socialistic utopia is headed out the door and good riddance!

I hate to have to correct you Obama doesn't sit around and do nothing he plays golf he adds to the economy and him and his family take very expensive vacations (AND I DO MEAN EXPENSIVE) and that is one of the perks of being president AND we the people pay for it . Now who do you think is stupid?

I just love sarcasm, especially when it shows what an ass Obama has been to and against the American people. If he would have spent all that taxpayer monies from golfing and his extremely expensive luxurious vacations in just one state, he would have definitely helped out the economy in that one state, but he spread those golf games around, and took many of those very expensive luxury vacations in foreign countries, so the only ones who benefitted from all that taxpayer's money Obama spent was just him and his family, and the friends they took along on some of those very expensive luxury vacations. Be sure to have read that last paragraph on my comment that you have replied on, I believe I also mentioned what you have brought up. As far as very expensive luxury vacations being perks for the President, no other President has even come close to as many and as expensive luxurious vacations as Obama has taken, for he has set the historical record in those categories, because most Presidents have taken their vacations either at their homes, or at that military base just outside of Washington DC, can't think of it's name right off the top of my head.

Raylan-It is better to lose 1300 jobs than 2400 jobs. The question is not how much UT earned last year but how much Carrier earned for them. Lets face it, Trump is much smarter than you give him credit for. Nobody gets all of the pie in any deal and once the corp tax rate is down to 15% these companies will have more incentive to stay home. If they want to produce Carrier products in Mexico, for sale in Mexico , that can be acceptable. I still believe that once Trump takes over he will impose a tax on units shipped to the USA if any are. Instead of relying on conjecture why not wait until Trump takes the reins and see what he does ? Good Luck America !!!

What the hey? They just add it to the deficit. After all, 20 trillion in debt is nothing. Just minor. It keeps going up and it cannot come down in any significant way, because to do so would devastate many, many senior citizens, and lets not forget welfare, and all those people who's job it is to administer welfare. Okay, don't take me literally. I am being a little sarcastic here. But it should be obvious to any thinking person that the debt will continue to go up, and continue and continue, and it cannot be stopped. Slowed down a little maybe, but not stopped. The U.S. does not pay the principle on the debt, they only pay the interest, and it is inevitable that it will sooner or later crash. But Obama doesn't have to worry. Who cares about the national debt? We will just let it soar until the interest rates skyrocket and the economy comes crashing down.

Some people on here have intimated that the National debt is meaningless, and not a problem. Well, just keep thinking that.
