I was a high school senior and had a brother in college that tragic day. I still remember it, and the aftermath, very well.

This is what happens when National Guard who are untrained in Police procedures are put on the spot. I seriously doubt an MP unit would have responded in such a manner. The shootings occurred after several days of sometimes violent riots.

That is true, as I recall it was black panthers that had burned the ROTC building the night before.

In the aftermath there were more guard shootings and many bayonetings on other campuses, then a demonstrations/riots in DC

that nearly ignited an armed revolution.

In the end, the guard members lacked the basic training, discipline and leadership to deal with the situation which they faced that day.

How did anyone one hundred yards distant get hit by shots firedover student's heads? At one hundred yards the bullet trajectory would still be climbing regardless of caliber.

My guess is that Dr Dross is referring to our recent history of interfering with other cultures, attempting to democratized other nations, plotting wars covertly behind the scenes, etc, etc. The times since WWII have not been our best.

Truer words have probably never been spoken. ANY rioting mob can be expected to do harm.......and I believe harm is the PURPOSE for a mob rioting. There are peaceable gatherings and there are mobs.......the political right do gathering, the political left does MOBS. 1+1=2, but the left cannot grasp that concept.

I'm 78 years old and was well aware of the Kent State fiasco......my hubby was subject to have to put his life in danger as he was a government employee in law enforcement. Fortunately, he wasn't called into the mess, but HAD HE BEEN and HAD HE BEEN INJURED, I would have never rested until every imbecile who participated in the riots landed in jail. Such crap is for countries sporting Neanderthals, NOT the US. I have been alert to government crap for 54 years......not as naive as you may wish. If you believe that those shootings were justifiable you know nothing. It was the mayor of Kent and the governor of Ohio who were the

irresponsible fools responsible escalating a day after protest, into a massacre. The riot and burning of the ROTC building occurred the night

before, those convicted of the arson were mostly non-students with links to the black panthers and the weather underground.

Not one of the students shot that day was EVER charged with any crime. If you condone gunning down what were in FACT peaceful

protesters and innocent by-standers, perhaps you should consider moving to Iran!
