Speaking of Climate Change I just heard a man on Hannity talking about what Changers were saying 20 years ago. Had they been talking about the truth Alaska would be a sand covered desert now. Look, OldRoy, I know nothing about what someone said about Alaska and what people were saying 20 years ago, except what a group of about five people were saying when they were paid by corporations such as Exxon to deny the evidence of climate change, even though Exxon has since admitted that they were lying. This is well-documented. Hannity would not be my choice for reliable information. What I do know is that climate change/global warming is real, is serious, and is largely manmade. I know these things because I have read book after book on the subject and have taken two courses on the subject. After a lot of looking at the evidence pro and con, and noting that deniers of climate change/global warming use as evidence a series of illogical and/or irrelevant thoughts ("It is 'natural'") plus websites that were long ago proven to be deliberate misrepresentations, I have finally, after a prolonged exposure to both facts and lies, come to my conclusion about climate change/global warming. At this poinjt I must say, "Enough !" I have made a prolonged and serious intellectual effort to examine both sides and have come to my conclusion, just as every empiricist must do. I have done my research. I have come to my conclusions. And at this point I have to regard those who claim that climate change/global warming is not real, is not serious, and is not largely manmade are not open-minded enough to look at the evidence. For me, this conclusion is final. I have now entered the realm of being a "confirmational thinker" on the subject. And that's the way it is.

OldRoy, no, we have not studied opposite sides. As I stated very clearly in my post, I have studied both sides. At some point one must look at the evidence pro and con and make a decision. There is an enormolus amount of data out there, certainly far more than enough from both sides to make a decision about where one stands on the issue. A problem in the responses of people who deny climate change/global warming is that they misrepresent what is being said. Deniers try to claim that someone said the changes are going to be very, very quick, like living in the Sahara one year and the next year in the same place being up to one's ankles in ocean water. That isn't what is being said. Climate change/global warming is a long, slow, cumulative process that will affect your children and their children much more than it will affect you. Most deniers tend to emphsize some of the early pronouncemenets concerning climate change/global warming, many of which were in accurate because not enough time had elapsed and not enough data had been gathered, and also tend to exaggerate these early predictions greatly. They also tend to think that among the thousands of scientists who believe that climate change/global warming is real, is a serious threat to many people, and is largely manmade, that of the thousands and thousands of scientists working in this field, they are almost all dishonest and are lying. To call such a huge group of people all liars is unacceptable. I have looked at the evidence from both sides. I have made my decision about what is factual. And that is that.

Now you are talking about the REAL cause of climate change -- the sun.

Just as the sun warms the earth every morning, and cools at night, the suns long-term changing activity is responsible for long-term changing temperature on earth. The Maunder Minimum is a prime example of the sun's effect on earth. The Maunder Minimum was an extended period (1600 to early 1700s) of minimal solar activity. It corresponded with the coldest part of the Little Ice Age that lasted from 1350 to 1850. The Dalton Minimum in the early 1800s represents the last gasp of the Little Ice Age. After that, solar activity rose, lifting earth out of the Little Ice Age into a warming period that continues today. Please study the first chart below. Note that the most extreme solar activity occurred after 1950, corresponding with the global warming that alarmists are blaming on CO2.

Solar activity appears to have a long-term cycle lasting about 100 years and a short-term cycle lasting an average of 11 years. The high part of the long-term cycle is in the second half of the century, while the low is in the first half. The recent fall-off in activity (since 2000) is likely responsible for recent cooling, and may be the early stage of an extended cooling period that could last far into the first half of the 21st century. The eleven-year cycle may help illustrate this (second chart). Rather than turning up at the end of 11 years, solar activity continued to decline, reaching 13 years. During those two extra years of decline, the earth's cooling witnessed greatly expanded ice on both poles. Also, we saw record snowfall in Boston and the coldest winter in northeast cities in 37 years.

The good news is, the solar downturn ended in late 2013 and is slowly turning back up. El Nino is slowly forming over the Pacific and could finally bring rain to California and warmth to the northeast. It will prevent the cold arctic blasts from dropping so far down across the northeast. That could bring us seven or eight years of relief, but the eleven-year cycle will have us back in the freezer by 2024. And it could be even colder as the long-term solar cycle deepens.

If there is any truth to the warming effect of greenhouse gases, we need to burn a lot of fossil fuels to help get us through this 50-year cooling period.

Other physical scientific evidence are the geological “Ice-Ages” and the geological scaring of the Earth's surface caused by "Ice-Glaciers" sheets and occurrence's of Global Cooling.

Since the beginning of earth's formation, there has been many changes in tectonic continental plate and shifting tectonic plates, notably called "Pangaea-Theory" and subsequent glacial ice sheets ages, which has formed the geological surface of the earth many times over.

Another major factor of Global Warming - Global Cooling is that the earth is a celestial star in our solar system.

To sustain life the earth’s temperature cannot exceed boiling point of water, at 103 C or (217 F), most life on Earth would be extinct, in particular complex life forms at this temperature would be extinct.

To sustain ambient life forms such as plants, the Earths temperature could not less than O degrees Fahrenheit. This is called "The Goldilocks" effect principle, "Not to hot to not to cold."

The highest recorded temperature on earth was 70.7° Celsius, or 159° Fahrenheit in the Iraq desert. While the lowest recorded temperature on earth was in Antarctica -89.2° Celsius, or -129° Fahrenheit.
